I third that, thanks for your time and effort. It's funny, I really can't thank anyone on the Coaching Staff for their time and effort. And like I said 5 weeks ago, I hope we lose. Tired - Out
Fyi.. The word is coming from a good source in the B/M bldg that the D-fensive staff has been let go. You will here about it after the Tech game. Now I don't know about Gardner, they expect him to have some opportunities with some HC (Tenn. St., etc) and he may jump. Willie and Jancek for sure, I'm assuming Fabris(which I think as a DE coach does well). So apparently they have someone in place or pretty firm commitiment. We'll see hopefully soon.....
Just wanted you guys to know that I think you do a hell of a job and I love the blog. I will be going into hybernation soon as I don't give a shit about basketball.
Hopefully next football season will be a better one. It is a long, long time until September 2010.
Coach Gardner is the guy who Bill Cowher plans to retain as defensive line coach when he takes over as defensive coordinator. The Easter Bunny will probably coach linebackers. Sadly, we may see an improvement.
Gruden signed a multi year deal with ESPN just a few weeks ago to continue as one of the three hosts for Monday Night Football. Doubt he will come to Athens with ESPN paying him millions just to commentate.
From the Don Leebern and Jimmy Blanchard camp in Columbus:
There was an athletic board meeting after the TN game which addressed many topics, among them a change of direction re: our DC. Typically the board does not get involved in such decisions, but the outcry has been reaching deafening levels and can no longer be ignored. Apparently, Damon is taking the proactive approach and requiring Richt to make a change. These same board members are in the process of raising any necessary funds to facilitate this process. The two names I recognized being mentioned to replace Martinez and lead an entirely new staff: Smart Bumpus Al Saban Roger Moore Theodore Huckstable Roger Meriweather Billy Jean Queer Al Franken
There were others but I didn't recognize the names.
All in all - we have an involved board and an athletic director that cares. Positive change is on the way. You can take this commentary fwiw, but luckily I'm in close contact with the right folks.
While I am in complete favor of CMR doing some house cleaning, I just do not see it happening. He has already begun sending messages that Crazy Willie will be back next season, "I think the thing that I really would have liked to have seen was what kind of defense would we have played all year long if we weren't constantly turning the ball over deep in our territory or throwing the pick six or having the kickoff returned for a touchdown." CMR will NOT fire Crazy Willie! Hang on to your hats boys, next season will be more of the same!
We've got it in the bag.
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for the great blogging Paul, Quinton, and Dawgnoxious.
ReplyDeleteWatching this year's team without this blog to fall back on would be torture.
I second that! Thanks guys!!!

My friend's across the street neighbor's pharmacist cousin said that Jon Gruden's wife was looking at houses in Athens....
ReplyDeleteSomeone posed to me yesterday that he hopes (as a Dawg fan) that Tech beats us by 50 pts or so....to make sure that the Defensive staff is fired.
ReplyDeleteAlthough i could never ever pull for Tech (or for a loss for that matter) his point is a valid one.
What say y'all?
Fuc tech.
Damn nerds.
Go Dawgs!
Bob Davie is coming to Athens to be DC.
ReplyDeleteWho is Coach Gardner?

ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving. Thanks for the Blog. Woof, woof, woof.

HVL Dawg
I'm pretty sure anon was being sarcastic about gruden.. Although I wish it was true..
ReplyDeleteBryan, Coach Gardner is the DLine Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.

ReplyDeleteAnon 5:57,
ReplyDeleteAh, nevermind.

ReplyDeleteI don't think it is Richt's decision anymore. Period.
It's gone way past that. As it should have.
At some point the AD has to be the AD, as in the football coach's boss.
And Evans gets it. He sees the writing on the wall ($$$$$$$$).
