UGA has agreed to let Colorado bring Ralphie to Athens

The free message board at DawgPost.com has the links. I'll aggregate them here, but the entire thread between CU and UGA fans is cool. The original article in the Boulder Daily Camera asks for a password occassionally. Here's the cut and paste to the relevant part.
A romp between the hedges

Two of the most recognizable mascots in college sports will share the same football field Sept. 23 when CU travels to play at Georgia.

Colorado athletic director Mike Bohn said his counterpart at Georgia, Damon Evans, has agreed to allow Ralphie to make the trip to Athens, Ga., for the Buffs' game against the Bulldogs in historic Sanford Stadium.

Ralphie will lead the Buffs on the field between the hedges just as she does before home games and after halftime, Bohn said. Four of Ralphie's handlers will drive her more than 1,500 miles to get to the game. Other handlers will meet her there.

In return, Bohn invited Evans to bring Uga the Bulldog to Boulder in 2010 when the series returns to Folsom Field.
Cool move on Damon's part. Although, the thread asks a valid question. Will UGA let Colorado run onto the field first to avoid this problem:

Doh!

Ralphie IV is the latest in the line of Colorado mascots. Background on Ralphie IV from the official site linked below:
Named “Rowdy” by ranch hands, she was separated from her mother when she was about a month old and was literally found in the jaws of a coyote with bite marks around her neck. She survived the attack and was bottle-fed by the [ranch] hands for four months. She was released back to the herd but wouldn’t bond with them, so the ranch hands took her back in and fed her grasses and grain. It was then that she was donated to CU [by Ted Turner] as a yearling early in the spring of 1998.

I just hope Ralphie is better prepared for the early season heat and humidity than Boise State was. You'd hate to see Ralphie seize up like the horsefrom Animal House did in Dean Woermer's office. Although, I understand buffalo steaks are very tasty, and lower in fat than beef.

one thing is for sure. Ralphie is bound to be better behaved, better groomed, and no doubt better smelling than the GTU contingent that "graces" Sanford Stadium every other year.

Beginning of the fourth quarter. [Sound of chain saw starting]. People start to leave to go crank up their grills. What a thought!

I'll give ya some kudos for the call on the GT fanbase, all school.

That's pretty cool of D. Evans to allow them to drive that thing all the way down here just so it could get front row seats to Dan Hawkins' second loss in Sanford Stadium.

The thing I guess I took for granted was how UGA is not always welcome in other places. I reckon we do have to ask permission before we can take him anywhere, ya know, just as a courtesy.

I'd just hate to be the team that said "no, he's not welcome."

Where's the guy running behind him with a shovel?

Which reminds me of Bevo's famous (infamous) act at the famous (infamous) Big 12 championship game vs Nebraska (the one of email fame: "6:54, crack open first beer; 7:01 crack open second beer...): Texas was getting the ---- beat out of them and in the second half Bevo leaves the field and craps over the "SKA" in Nebraska written in the end zone.

Shovel indeed!

I can't wait to see Ralphie.
