Video: 1992 Georgia vs. Auburn Ending

This is an absolutely spectacular video to start your Monday morning. Ray Goff spent his entire head coaching career as "One Play Away Ray." But not on this night. He finally caught a break.

  1. Great find.

    Some highlights:

-God bless Ray, but why is he wandering around, lost, looking for someone to take the game away from us when the game is over?

    Wait, never mind.

-Dye's Death Stare, "Good Game Ray, Good Game. My life is over."

-I wonder what Jimmy Rayne was asking Ray there at the end. Something about Barbeque recipes. Or Eric Ramsey. Or pressure treated lumber. Possibilites, endless.

  3. I was thinking the same thing Anon. Why didn't Ray just run like hell and get outta there.

I do love beating AU in Jordan-Hare b/c our players almost always come over and celebrate w/ the fans before running out.

  4. Stand by for the Auburn fans to bum-rush this thread whining about what jerks we are.

  5. Great clip. The only thing that could make this better would be the classic Munson call : "We're not ligned up 4 , 3, Auburns not ligned up, 2,1. ITS OVER! Auburn messed up with the clock. We just saved ourselves no we didn't old lady luck saved us. Auburn messed up with 10 seconds left. The defense won the game make no mistake about it". It's not verbatum but you get the picture.

  6. How odd does it feel to see this game on ABC instead of CBS or ESPN?
The great thing is that this was AT AUBURN, so if anyone messed up, it was the officials and someone at Auburn.
I missed this one, but I was at "the tie" that ended Auburn's win streak (Bowden) and the crazy OT game. Good stuff.

  8. Will never forget hearing that coach Frank Orgel had to defend himself against a rabid Auburn fan in the players' tunnel following the game. Aubbie fan wanted to fight him...

  9. "One play away Ray" is a spot-on discription of the early 90s for UGA fans. I was sitting in the middle of the Auburn section at the 92 Georgia/Auburn game wearing Red & Black thinking "here we go again". I couldn't believe it when Auburn couldn't get another play off. The Auburn fans where I was sitting weren't really bitching about the ref b/c they couldn't see what happened. Who was the Georgia DB (#16) who pinched in and made the initial hit? I hope he got a couple of bone stickers for that one.

  10. I think #16 was Wilson (Chad or Chris maybe). What's also funny is that Orgel had been at Auburn before Georgia and was notorious for stealing recruits out of South Georgia for Auburn.

  11. One of my favorite sports moments of all time. Mitch Davis almost broke my arm off high fiving me in the crowd after that game.
