Reggie Bush's family allegedly lived in a $750,000 home last year

...a home owned by a "runner" for Reggie's new agent. Yahoo Sports has the story.

I don't know what's more interesting about this...that Yahoo Sports is doing investigative journalism pieces or that the pious west coasters are having to eat a turd burger b/c corruption in college football doesn't just exist in the Southeast.

Apparently, Bush's family lived in a brand new 3,000 square foot home just outside of San Diego overlooking Sweet Water Reservoir. Nice area, if you've got the $$$ for it.

This likely only becomes a huge problem for USC if someone can prove that USC knew about it. Otherwise, it'll just be a medium sized problem. USC has already turned the issue over to the Pac-10 once Yahoo Sports started knocking on their door.

Interestingly, Albert Means only cost Bama $250,000. Given the productivity of Means vs. the productivity of Reggie Bush, I'd argue that Logan Young was a lousy negotiator.

BTW -- things like this don't just happen. The media doesn't just find this out. Either a rival agent or a UCLA fan tipped Yahoo Sports off on the story.

Getting paid to play will turn your program upside down.

If this had happened in the SEC, every media outlet in the country would be running stories about the ongoing corruption in our neck of the woods. The story just broke today. It'll be interesting to see how it evolves. (hat tip: UGACody on DawgPost.com).

ok a 750,000 house. In California thats not that expensive. The house I currently own is about 300,000 and my brother-in-law owns a house thats smaller than this one and it costs close to 600,000. And considering Le Bron's parents were able to buy him a hummer based on a loan for his future earnings I don't see that this is that big a deal. Of course there could be some money changing hands in this but any loan officer that keeps up with football at all could easily loan them the money based on his future earnings/

and then after reading the article I realized the problem being that is that the house is owned by someone else.

Is it an NCAA violation that someoen related to the player benfieted?

Anon - I had the same mixed reactions to the article you did.

750k isn't all that much for a house overlooking a lake in Southern California. Especially not a 3,000 sq foot job. However, it is about 15 miles outside of town. Basically, the house is the equivalent to North Roswell from Midtown Atlanta.

The snare in all of this, is that the house is in the name of someone else and from the sound of things...it sounds like an attempt to form a paper company in order to make it tougher to trace who really owned the house.

That big 'ol winning streak will take quite a hit if those games are forfeited.

I think its obvious who turned them in. The guy who was letting them live in the house was trying to get Reggie to sign with his marketing firm. Reggie signed with someone else, and surprise surprise. Momma is thrown out on her ear and somehow the press finds out about the arraingement. :o
