Both ESPN Projections have Dawgs in Peach Bowl

Both Mark Schlabach and Ivan Maisel have us playing Boston College in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl, which I always forget and still call the Peach. Personally, I don't see BC getting that slot. As I said Sunday, I think the Peach takes Clemson. Still have no idea on us.

Schlabach has Auburn vs. Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl. Auburn fans would have an absolute blast in Miami busting out the Wreck Tech Pajama Parade in South Beach.

Personally, I was hoping for a Clemson vs. Florida rumble in what I was prepared to call the "Charley Pell Classic." Oh well, we can still get the "Houston Nutt Resume Bowl" in Dallas if Arkansas faces off against Nebraska.

I'm clearly a beggar being a chooser here, but I'd rather not play Auburn in a bowl, having just resurrected the series (not to mention beating the Tigers twice). If Tech plays an SEC team, I hope it's someone we've not played lately, like Florida or UT.

I was just wondering....

Will GTU be such a great get for the Orange Bowl after they lose to UGA and Clemson spanks them for the second time this year in Jacksonville (or BC spanks them for the first time?)

I'm sure all pencil necks everywhere are wearing their bony fingers out tapping up scenarios where they can still finish in the BCS championship game, but given their rich history of underachievement, I'm not so sure I'd be making any non-refundable reservations for Miami in early January.

Actually, it's unfair of me to call GTU's football program "underachieving," because that implies that someone rational (which excludes most GTU football fans) actually expects them to win more than 6 or 7 games a year.

Their record this year is much less a sign of significant improvement than it is a sign that the rest of the ACC has significantly regressed. The pack has come back to GTU, not the other way around.

I'd love to see AU get to the Orange Bowl, though. I hear Auburn people are excited about the possibility because, as several of them around here have told me, "I ain't ever been out of the United States before." It'd be like Ma and Pa Kettle Go To Hawaii, only with more orange and lots of Spanish.

Let's not forget that Wake Forest also controls its own destiny in the Atlantic (or is it Coastal? anybody?) Division race, and Wake has been a thorn in the side of Tech on a few recent occasions even when the Demon Deacons weren't all that good.

I'd personally love to see Wake in the ACC title bout, with TE John Tereshinski named Player of the Game, of course.

all school, if you're trying to respond directly to my comment, you might notice I never even mentioned the Orange Bowl; I said "a bowl." And yeah, I would not be surprised in the least to lose to BC, Clemson or Wake. The Deacs tend to beat Tech every third to fifth meeting, and GT has two straight wins right now.

I would be pretty surprised to lose to Georgia this year, though. We've played y'all pretty close the past couple years, and Stafford, Shinski and Cox are no Greenes and Shockleys. "May be, but Reggie's still Reggie, he cain't never beat Georgia woof." I'm gonna say he surely can, being that he came close twice when y'all had much better teams than this year.

I will be the first to admit that the ACC is in a down year. I'll take it, though, and I'm gonna have a fine time in Jacksonville.

I'm hoping for a rematch of Clean, Old Fashioned Hate at the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
