Wake Up and Tailgate - UK Game on LFS

Sunrise, or when you'll need to wake up on November 17 in order to get to Athens and tailgate.

In a decision I cannot understand, CBS has chosen to broadcast the LSU-Ole Miss game on November 17, instead of the Kentucky-Georgia game, which will air on Lincoln Financial. How do I begin to explain the injustice of this decision? First of all, why would anyone outside of Louisiana or Mississippi watch LSU, the conference's best team, destroy Ole Miss, the conference's worst team, other than for the entertaining sequence of the Oge shuddering, shaking, and eventually exploding under the pressure to win a conference game? No one. That's why it should be on regional television, like LFS.

Second, the SEC East race is still wide open and is unlikely to be decided this weekend no matter what the outcomes. It's conceivable that Georgia could clinch a trip to Atlanta with a win in that game. Meanwhile, the SEC West race is all but over. CBS even lists the Kentucky game as on of its "Key Dates" for the rest of the season on its website. No mention of LSU and Ole Miss.

Third, it makes me angry that I have to watch what could be the biggest game of the season broadcast early in the morning with the production values of a high school broadcast journalism project. What kind or sick producer hires an entire broadcasting team that shares the same first name, anyway?

My buddy at CBS said they went with the highest ranked team theory instead of the more competitive match-up.

It's a decision that hasn't worked for them several times already this year. Why not try it again. Insert Sarcasm.

I've also heard a rumor that all teams are required to make an appearance on LFSports. UK hasn't appeared on the network yet. Personally, I think UK has built a banking account full of LFSports appearances. You would think they could've cashed in a chip or two to get out of it.

***CKING BULL***T!!!!!!!

why oh why!!! If we win this weekend (i think we lose) i am going to have to pull an all nighter for the UK game. That's the only way to be fired up.

I HATE 12:30 games!

Kentucky got Croomed by the Bizzaro Bulldogs on LFS earlier this year.

The only glimmer of hope is that this "screw job" by CBS is a foretelling of a victory by us this weekend so as to embarrass them even more for taking the worse game.

Go Dawgs!!

That is terrible. UGA/UK is a pretty good game this year and LSU/Ole Piss is awful.

There is nothing worse than watching a game on LF. I'd rather watch American Gladiators on ESPN Classic.

It sucks, but isn't too surprising considering CBS has/will telecast the UGA/FL game and the UGA/AU games. I honestly can't say I'm surprised they don't want to telecast UGA 3 times in 4 weeks. I just wish they had picked the UK game instead of AU.

Actually, for me it works out better, I have an obligation later in the afternoon and so now I will get to see the game (or at least most of it).
But from a TV standpoint, it is a really bad decision.

What is ESPN doing that night? I don't see any night games listed on there yet.

Worst Network decision since "Cavemen."

First, I love Cavemen, its awesome. But does this totally screw me over, who lives in PA? Any chance it is on paper view, or is Munson my only option? Crap.

I always get the LF games on the Gameday pkg. I have Dish Network

I've heard for a few years that every SEC team must be televised on LF at least once a year, but just recently I saw on another blog that it is just a "gentleman's" agreement. Not only has UK not been on LF but UGA has not been on LF this year either. It works out pretty well for me though, I'm going to see the Police at Philips Arena that night. Gives me plenty of time to get down there.

Yahoo occasionally streams the LF game. They did the Auburn game last year.

All LFS games are on ESPN Gameplan so, even in PA, you can view the game if you buy the entire weekends worth of games through your cable provider. I think it's $25 or so. I bought the entire season pkg for Gameplan since I'm in VA.

I know Larry is almost 100 years old, but he was just awful against Troy. Thankfully, we only have two or three games that aren't televised each year and they usually aren't very competitive(last Saturday being an exception).

UK hasn't appeared on LF sports yet? Why not? Their entire season should be on LF sports, I mean, sheese. CBS has the deeper checkbook to the SEC, I'm sure if they wanted the game they would have gotten it regardless of if either team had been on LF. Worst case is that SEC ticks off LF and they don't broadcast SEC, there are a ton of other regional sports production companies that would take their place.
I'm with you on the production value of a LF game. I purchased a HDTV set last year and live football is amazing in HD. Standard def is 525 lines, sometimes I think LF productions have a hard time meeting that definition in their video.
I'm hoping the LSU/Ol Miss is a blow out. That will show the suits in New York how to choose a good game to broadcast.

Why didn't ESPN pick this game up for the 7:45 game? I don't think there are any other good sec games next weekend. It looks like Ole Miss is going to be the only SEC team who doesn't reach bowl eligibility and CBS chooses to broadcast them on national tv? Nice call.

i have a better question, does anyone know why gameday isn't coming to the uga-au game, but rather going to a d1-aa matchup in massachusettes?

Anon - it's a Div III match-up.

Parkview would take Amherst to the woodshed.

First Manimal gets canceled, and now this. There's nothing left to believe in.

Paul,

A- for the Manimal reference.

As for the Pennsylvania fellow, I agree with the other guy that you may be able to watch the game on yahoo. I watched several basketball games last year thanks to that service. I think this link should probably put you in the right place:

Plus they have archives of the games, so you can watch them later in the week.
