As good as Sports Talk can get

Paul Finebaum has two of the best interviews that a Southerner will hear on sports talk radio.

The first segment is an in-studio interview with Pat Dye *and* Gene Stallings. The entire thing is amazing; although, Dawgnoxious advises that you'll need to turn down the bass on your speakers or Stallings' voice will rattle the fillings out of your teeth. They talk about scheme, the spread, recruiting, scheduling, you name it. The interview aired a few weeks ago.

I also recommend this week's interview with Pat Sullivan. Sullivan is the 1971 Heisman winner, and he's currently the head coach at Samford. This one is a great listen for wildly different reasons than the recommendation above. Sullivan talks about his near death experience in battling throat cancer. It's incredibly compelling radio. Also, I didn't realize that Sullivan accepted the LSU head coaching job in 1994 only to find out that this buyout was too large at TCU, and the Tigers couldn't afford him. It sort of fades in quality after the first 20 minutes, but the beginning is good stuff.

Both are great listens. See you in NOLA.

I listen to Finebaum on hte podcasts. I have learned only to listen to the guests. Finebaum and the callers are just too much.

Best Guests:
Donnan
Dye
Stallings
Cecil Hurt
Herbstreit is so so

Dye is amazing. He is a slow talker, but he knows his stuff. A couple of weeks ago he was talking out of the bule about the spread offense and how it was really the wave of the future for college ball. I was a great interview.

The rest of Finebaum is C***.

Incredible dialogue between Dye and Stallings. Makes one wonder how these two men would fare in today's college football landscape if they were in their coaching prime. Stallings take on the Spread Offense (and lack of fundamental defense) was particularly interesting.

Oh, and any interview which relegates Finebaum to maybe :30 seconds of soundbytes is a good interview, IMO.
