The Diamond Dawgs have been impressive this season, but no one may be as impressed as Arizona skipper Andy Lopez, according to this article in the Daily Wildcat. Lopez doesn't think the 'Cats played that bad in this past weekend's UGA sweep. It was a case of the Dawgs just playing much better. Lopez quipped that he hasn't "seen (an offense) like that in a long, long time."
Lopez was especially enamored with Johnathan Taylor:
UA pitchers had a particularly difficult time containing freshman outfielder Johnathan Taylor. The speedy leadoff hitter went a combined 6-for-13 from the dish and scored seven runs.
"I would give the Golden Spikes award to (Johnathan) Taylor right now if I could," Lopez said.
For those who don't follow college baseball, the Golden Spikes is the baseball equivalent of the Heisman Trophy.
Lopez isn't a some uninitiated buffoon, either. He's led three different teams to Omaha, coached Brad Wilkerson to a Golden Spikes trophy, and won a national championship with Pepperdine in 1992.

What, no mention of Colby May?
14-0 is certainly a possibility going into the Alabama series. My only concern is that Grimm got roughed up a tad last weekend - he's a key if we are going back to Omaha.
But wow...Taylor is something to behold...you could feel the frustration emanating from the Youngstown State dugout every time he came up to bat because they knew he was getting on base and was going to score.
Loving the baseball team this year. Been to three games so far and had a blast.
Georgia leading Kentucky at UK by the way. Where has this team been all year (especially Barnes).
Oh well, guess we're just getting warmed up for the tournament again.
We beat Kentucky!!! wth?
Colby May, tonight, by the way: 2-for-3, a home run, three walks and five runs scored.
And an official attendance of 1,767 for a midweek game against Wofford. That's notable in itself, isn't it?
GO DAWGS!!!
How sweet it is...
C'mon PWD.
Basketball season just started.
Anyone know what channel the games are on? CSS or something?
