to add to that last post

..the one about the call in show and more physical practices.

To answer a question all of us should be asking..."No. I have no idea what took him so long to do this."  But it's directionally right so I'm going with that.

Re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

What took him so long? I guess the win-loss record seemed adequate. Up until last year, there was nothing really all-that-broke to fix. At least nothing that suggested the systemic problems that we have now. Glad to see Richt is willing to acknowledge the magnitude of it, and clamp down.

And can we please ease off on the fatalism: "re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic." I have a lot of reasons to pull for our boys, hope CMR turns it around, etc. But if it refutes the drama queens in our fanbase, well... all the better.

I like your level-headedness Charles. I wonder if anon 10:46 thinks "changing horses in midstream" would be better than "re-arranging desk chairs"

We can use a witty phrase for anything.

I haven't looked into it very deeply but either:

a) just don't have the horses to run a 3-4 yet. You need a 330+ lb nose and 300lb tackles, which we don't have at all. How many guys are there like that coming out of high school anyway? It seems to me the 3-4 makes more sense at the pro level where you're only coaching the cream of the cream.

or

b) The defense is just too complex to teach kids that only have 20 hours/week to learn something.

Yea, cause that 3-4 isn't working out too well for Bama is it?

Look at it this way:

Many Florida fans want to fire Meyer...and they're 4-1.

Many LSU fans want Miles gone...and they're 5-0.

Many Tennessee fans are in straight jackets, sitting Indian style, rocking back and forth, singing 'Rocky Top' in broken, hopeless voices...and their coach has their team playing WAY above their heads.

Yet, we sit at 1-4 and still mainly support our head coach.
So, which team has the wacko fanbase, again?

Enough said. He is no Nick Saban and NEVER will be.

If you have a fan base that is content with 10-3, 11-2, seasons year in and year out, then that is what you will get.

On the other hand if you are not happy with anything but competing for a national championship year in and year out, e.g. - AL, Fl, then you will not stand for less and will go get you a Nick Saban (Harbaugh anyone?)
