Ticket Prices for National Championship Game

Patience has paid off, some. There are still plenty of tickets available, and they seem to have leveled off at around $1450 or so, with lowers available below $2000.

PrimeSport has a few club seats listed around $2100, too.

National Championship Game Tix

These have to go down, right? Right?  Get in price is in the $2100 range. If you are interested in food/drink packages, Prime Sport has some packages that include food and 'premium beverages' in the lower bowl that include guaranteed seating in Molly B's, but still, this is a crazy ticket. Click the picture to see those seating packages.

StubHub also has plenty of tickets listed, but the prices are still astronomical. I was expecting a $1000+ get in price, and it still may get down that low, but I don't see it doing that before the weekend. It could stay up, too.

It'll be interesting to see if Alabama fans dump their tickets. This is their sixth appearance in this game in nine years, so could be. I'd be surprised, even at these prices, if many UGA fans sell.

Rose Bowl Tickets and Hospitality Packages

Now that the airlines have added some flights, the prices to LA are moderating (some), you can get out there for around $650.  There are a couple of options for you, if you want ticket and hospitatlity, including post game watching of the Sugar Bowl on site. PrimeSport has put together a tailgate that includes food and beverage pre-game, as well as a place to wait out the legendary post game traffic.

They also have tickets that are starting below $300 before fees.

Rose Bowl Tickets and Pricing

Now that UGA has released their tickets and the Rose Bowl has given scalpers/Ticketmaster another chance to power grab all the released and sold a few remaining tickets, the secondary market is your friend.  The get in price has remained pretty constant at about $250. On a ~$175 face value ticket, that isn't terrible.

As you can see, Georgia will sit facing the press box, which is on the East side of the Rose Bowl. Bring your sunglasses as we'll have the sun in our face.

Funny thing about the Rose Bowl, end zone seats are lettered backwards from K-A (K basically at field level), then from 1-77 going up. It appears the seat back sections on the side lines start at row 1-7 depending on the section. From everything I've heard, the better seats are above the lettered rows, and if you are behind the benches, up around row 25-45. The ring walkway around the stadium is around row 30. I've also heard the end zone lettered seats are great, at least while the teams are playing towards your end zone.

I still think there are going to be a lot of Dawg fans in Pasadena, but given the lower allotment to the schools (13K each), as well as the sales to the locals and scalpers Web 3.0 entrepreneurs, hold backs for corporate groups, and the pre-announcement sales, getting a ticket isn't a given unless you are willing to show up with cash and hope or go ahead and bite the bullet through aftermarket.

Rose Bowl Tickets and Packages

Flights are sky high (see what I did?) right now, but prices for tickets to the game are doing ok.  We have a couple of options if you don't get them through Hartman.

PrimeSport is a premium hospitality provider
You may have noticed StubHub is also a partner again, so you can always check the banner or the links on the main page to see what they are going for there.

In talking to my LA friends, there are no real bad seats in the Rose Bowl, but lower isn't always better because the slope is flatter in the lowest part of the bowl.  Also, the end zone seats are all bench, but it is the Rose Bowl, so if they did a flyover with the Spruce Goose, I'd be ok with it.

Some Things Never Change (and an update on SEC Champ Game Tix)

As you probably know, the market for tickets to the SEC Championship Game has remained strongly in favor of the seller. I remember writing something for the 2012 game and what prices did, thinking they were falling early in the week, so I looked through the ole GSB archives to find, yes, they were falling earlier in the week.

Little did I know I would find the gift that keeps on giving:

Never change, Tennessee. Never change.

By the way, the get in price is down around $400 as of this morning, with lowers in the upper $600's.
With only about 20% of the traffic on ticket broker sites coming from Alabama, there is a good chance tomorrow's crowd will be leaning towards Georgia.

Georgia's Projected 2017 Football Kickoff Times

  • CBS still has their doubleheader weekends, which they usually announce around June 1. They usually announce the first couple of weeks and select games from the season, such as Georgia/Florida.
  • You can bet on November 4th being one of those doubleheaders, so CBS can get LSU at Alabama into their fall prime time inventory. I'm betting on that decision allowing our game against South Carolina to be on CBS at 3:30.
  • That being said, having those weekends locked down will probably change at least one of my projections. Say November 4th isn't a doubleheader, there is no way very little chance our game is picked before Alabama vs. LSU.
  • So there are my predictions. Kickoff times during the season are announced 12 days ahead of time (usually Monday around noon Eastern), unless the TV partners go to a six day window, which they can do twice.

*I fully expect the full SEC TV schedule to be released about ten minutes after this goes live, so you are welcome.

  • CBS still has their doubleheader weekends. Those weekends are scheduled November 5th for the 3:30/8pm weekend and November 12th for the noon/3:30.
  • That means you can write down Alabama at LSU on Nov 5th for 8pm in unicorn blood.
  • The closest thing I can have to a lock is the noon kickoff for Auburn. I could see us playing on ESPN at Noon, but that is a tough weekend unless both Georgia and Auburn are good enough to jump LSU vs. Arkansas for the CBS 3:30 game.
  • Kentucky could be anytime. I am honestly 50/50 it being the 4:30 SECN game.
  • So there are my predictions. Kickoff times during the season are announced 12 days ahead of time (usually Monday around noon Eastern), unless the TV partners go to a six day window, which they can do twice. The weekend of Oct 10th is likely to be at least one of those 6 day window weekends.

A good read on the 2008 Alabama game

Warning, it isn't an easy read, but I think it is necessary to get a handle on the difference in mindset and preparation between the two teams in 2008:
Gold ran into former Alabama coach Gene Stallings that week. He vividly remembers the retired coach's message.
"He said, 'If you've got them worried about what the hell they're going to wear," Stallings told Gold, "you've got this game in the bag."
I like what I'm seeing from Georgia's players and coaching staff. Now, just go out and do the thing.

A little golf with Berniedawg

Chris and I are headed to Orange Beach for some golf with Twitterless Brad. We'll be using the modified Dawgden scoring system this weekend. I hear tell there'll be some Drive Br Truckers and Alabama Shakes Saturday night at The Wharf.

Managed to get my bag outfitted last week with some of the latest swag from our fanshop:

Season Tickets available

Now that tickets have been mailed, the supply of season tickets have gone up. There are some as low as $800, with some decent lower level sets in the $1200 range. Considering the combined average for South Carolina and Alabama is near $1000, that isn't a stretch.

You can always see individual game inventory, as well as season ticket inventory in the first column to the right on GSB.

Season Tickets available

Our ticket vendor has a few season tickets available in the $900 to $1250 range. When you consider the contribution required per ticket, plus the cost of just getting an Alabama ticket (around $300), $1000 isn't unreasonable when you also get South Carolina, Missouri, Kentucky, and Georgia Southern tickets, too.

Georgia Bulldog projected 2015 kickoff times

The first three weeks of the schedule is set. Remember, CBS will no longer have the exclusive 3:30pm window for their SEC on CBS national game. That being said, the SEC on CBS will retain the first pick, working with the conference, for the 3:30 time slot.

The way it worked last year was the SEC Network had up to 3 game slots per Saturday, typically around the noon, 4pm, and 8pm hours. Usually, the SEC worked to only have one other game against the CBS game. Also, ESPN grabs games as they see fit, such as the South Carolina at Georgia game on September 19th.

As we saw last year, the biggest upside of the SEC Network is that the SECN has acquired the third tier rights for all football games. Any game not covered by either CBS or ESPN/SECN will likely be picked up by Fox Sports South (or their other regional sports networks).

Times and networks in bold are confirmed.

  • CBS still has their doubleheader weekends. Those weekends are scheduled November 7th for the 3:30/8pm weekend and November 14th for the noon/3:30.
  • If the season goes how I think it will, we'll be playing the night game at Auburn. Oh. Joy. If the season doesn't go the way I think it will, then it could be at 3:30 on CBS, especial if the SEC West is on the line with Arkansas at LSU. Or LSU throws their sucker in the dirt about only having five night games this season.
  • I'm an idiot. I originally had the doubleheader weekends backwards and didn't back edit times. I don't see us getting a fourth CBS game unless both Georgia and Auburn are undeafeted. Or LSU throws their sucker in the dirt about only having five night home games. Then we'll be the 3:30 game on CBS. No chance we'll end up getting in and out of Auburn at 11am local, is there?
  • I am very uncertain on the Southern game's network, as the SECN did some co-broadcast last season. The conference has eight games in their inventory that weekend, with five conference games. UCF at South Carolina is the only 'big' non-conference game in the inventory, so I'd guess that is a late SECN game, unless ESPN picks it up. I am certain that Southern will kick off at noon.
  • It is possible the Tennessee game is at 3:30 on CBS, but Arkansas is at Alabama that same week. Look for this to be a 6 day window week, with Alabama at Georgia/Arkansas at Tennessee the week before.
  • November 21st, Cupcake Saturday, has nine games in the TV inventory. Fortunately, our game is against a Georgia Southern team that should be making late season noise in the Sun Belt, so I think we'll be pitted for a later afternoon game on the SECN.
So there are my predictions. Kickoff times during the season are announced 12 days ahead of time (usually Monday around noon Eastern), unless the TV partners go to a six day window, which they can do twice. The weekend of Oct 10th is likely to be at least one of those 6 day window weekends.

Belk Bowl Tickets

Tickets? We've got your tickets. Looks like there will be plenty of inventory. I'd expect prices to start falling around the 26th, after folks make up their mind about if they are going.

According to the Belk Bowl's official Twitter account, we'll have the South Side (h/t to Brandon Zimmerman for that).

I expected Charelston Southern to be a noon kickoff. According to Emerson, Tech will be at noon on SEC Network, as well...

So this Saturday is your last week to tailgate it up for this season.

Auburn at Georgia kickoff time....

Will either be 3:30 on CBS or 7:15 on ESPN. When I was looking at the slate, I figured it would be a toss up on the Georgia-Auburn or Mississippi State-Alabama game for CBS, with the other game being a night game on ESPN. Now we wait until next Sunday to find out.

The entire SEC slate for November 15th:
South Carolina at Florida, 12 pm ET/11 am CT on SEC Network
Mississippi State at Alabama, 3:30 pm ET/2:30 pm CT on CBS or 7:15 pm ET/6:15 pm CT on ESPN
Auburn at Georgia, 3:30 pm ET/2:30 pm CT on CBS or 7:15 pm ET/6:15 pm CT on ESPN
Kentucky at Tennessee, 4 pm ET/3 pm CT on SEC Network
Missouri at Texas A&M, 7:30 pm ET/6:30 pm CT on SEC Network
LSU at Arkansas, 8 pm ET/7 pm CT on ESPN2

Stacking the Everbank Field deck

Travis Fain with a winning idea:
As Bernie has already noted, absent a friendly fan discount, the cheapest after-market tickets for the Cocktail Party are going to be on the Florida side, which is the eastern side of the stadium this year.
But you don't want to sit with Florida people. So why not target a few key sections, see if we can load those up with Georgia fans?
He graciously mentions our ticket site, but a quick glance shows lot's of tickets around the stadium still available.

Vandy Kickoff Time?

Good news, no chance the Vandy kickoff time gets put into a six day window. With the possible match-ups the week of October 4th, I think the networks will use one of them:

DATE MATCHUP
Sat, Oct 4 # 8 LSU at # 5 Auburn
Sat, Oct 4 # 3 Alabama at # 10 Ole Miss
Sat, Oct 4 # 14 South Carolina at Kentucky
Sat, Oct 4 Florida at Tennessee
Sat, Oct 4 # 6 Texas A&M at Mississippi State
Sat, Oct 4 Vanderbilt at # 13 Georgia

They'll wait a week to see what happens with Arkansas vs. Texas A&M. If A&M wins, that A&M at Mississippi State game is going to be your 3:30 CBS game. If not, then it'll be Alabama at Ole Miss. It is possible they'll throw LSU at Auburn in there on the window, but with the Tigers' loss last night, I think they go ahead and put that game as an ESPN game, probably at noon.

Whichever game isn't picked for the CBS national broadcast (A&M at MSU or Alabama at Ole Miss) will be an ESPN networks prime time national game.

The better news is that the SEC Network has three time slots to fill with the rest of those games. Looking at the three games available:

Vandy at UGA
Florida at Tennessee
South Carolina at Kentucky

One stands out as a likely nooner, based on getting eyeballs on the channel: Florida at Tennessee. Throw in that UGA will have had Troy and Tennessee in consecutive weeks with noon kickoffs, I would think we'd be looking at at least a 4:00 kickoff.

If it is noon, I give up. I just don't see any rational explanation other than UGA has told the conference to put us at noon all the time. Considering it is also homecoming, that would be just dumb to do to your alumni, your alumni and development professionals who are forced to pack meeting with donors and alumni into less time, and students.
