UGA Ranked in Coaches Pre-Season Poll

Dawgs start season in Coaches Poll at 15. Meh.

Coach's Poll is out

SIDs Coaches have some strong takes.

Dawgs are 16th, sandwiched between Iowa at 14th and Southern Cal.

Notes of the really irrelevant: Polls for Week 5

UGA up one more in Coaches' poll to 12th. Fall one to 14th in AP. All the SEC West, but Arkansas, are in both polls.

Notes on the really irrelevant: Week four polls

UGA moves up to 13th in the Coaches' Poll, while gaining ground on a couple of teams in front of them. Dawgs are up to 12th in the AP, still ahead of South Carolina at 13th. Mississippi State jumps from unranked to 14th with the win on the road yesterday. LSU falls to 17th. Overall, eight of the top 25 are SEC teams. Missouri fall out with the loss to Indiana. Notes on the extremely irrelevant: Polls week three

Dawgs don't drop as far as I thought. 13 in AP, 14 in USA Today.

So there is that...

Note on the irrelevant week 2: Dawgs up to 6th in both major polls

Dawgs move up two in the coaches' poll, now at 6th. They are still getting one first place vote. Alabama (2nd), Auburn (5th), Texas A&M (8th), and LSU (9th) are the other SEC teams in the top 10.

In the AP, UGA loses one first place vote, but remains 6th. The same four SEC West teams are in the top ten. The Dawgs also pick up a few more votes, and close the gap on 5th place Auburn.

A note about the irrelevant: Dawgs up to 6th in the AP; 8th in Coaches'

Georgia grabbed two first place votes to move up six spots in the AP poll. They garnered one first place vote to move to 8th in the USA Today Coaches' poll.

Remember, all polls are for show now as the great and powerful Oz holds the teams' post-seasons in their hands.

UGA is ranked 12th in AP preseason poll

See the whole poll below. You can also drill down by voter in the tabs on the left of their page.

SEC Teams:
2: Alabama
6: Auburn
9: South Carolina
12: UGA
13: LSU
18: Ole Miss
21: Texas A&M
24: Missouri

Of course, the AP could name their own national champion, but with the current playoff structure, it'd take a very weird set of circumstances for them to do so. That means this is really just a way for the AP to help their affiliate newspapers fill column inches.

Alabama is the only SEC team to get a first place vote:
