The AJC now has an article up saying it was just an index finger, and Chip Towers has a personal apology up on his "blog."
He blew it, and he admitted that he was wrong. You can't ask for more than that.
The funny thing is....it actually wasn't Mercer at all. It was this kid.

Usually the way stuff like this goes down is that the alleged act makes the front page, but once the alleged act is proved untrue it is in fine print in the middle. Props to Chip Towers.
No. No props to Chip. Just like the last post said, front page when it is reported and buried in a personal blog when corrected. He should make a personal apology and run a retraction in the actual sports page.
He did both. He didn't just post it on the blog.
Otherwise, I wouldn't have given him props.
