Speaking of unstable QBs
I generally like Pat Dooley of the Gainesville Sun. Outside of his man crush for Steve Spurrier, he's a solid read. Yesterday, he looked at the lack of QB stability across the SEC.
Although, I did pick up one large whiff in the article. He lists Auburn's backup QB as Calvin Booker. It will be hard for Booker to backup Brandon Cox given that he's enrolled at Georgia Tech.

It's a little ironic (and probably typical of prognosticators) that this time last year they were saying this might be the SEC's best year because of all the proven QB's (Clausen/Ainge, Croyle, Cutler, Leak, Russell, UGA kid who's name I've forgotten - not a dig, etc.). While intra-league was fun as always, on the national stage, the league ended up being considered "average". Now with all the QB ?'s, and very valid, there's a lot of doubt. Will be interesting to see how it plays out - AS ALWAYS - and to me it can't start soon enough.
His name is SHOCKLEY(as if you'd really forgotten) and NO ONE was calling him "proven" by any means at this point last year.
Forgetting his name was not meant to be a dig!!! And by proven in his case, I meant he'd at least played some in real game situations, and people had seen him for a number of years and had a good sense of what he could do for the team. There certainly wasn't any doubt who the starter should be.
Contrast that with this year where, as Dawq describes, there are huge questions.
