GT Poster Caption Contest

After you've composed yourselves and stifled your condescending chuckles, let's take our best shot try to appropriately caption the 2006 GT football poster.

A few humble entries:

1. Acknowledging the Nix/Ball offense will blow, GT concedes the 2006 season will hinge on its ability to withstand a pummeling.

2. GT is the kind of team that can occasionally take an opponent's best shot, but it will never do that consistently.

3. History has indicated that if GT takes 12 shots from its opponents, 5 will knock-outs.

4. If you want James Brown to sing "Living in America" before homecoming, you're outta luck because he's a Dawg.

Both successful in Georgia. Both think Tech is teh suxorz.

5. Did you steal this theme from Pat Benatar? I hope Tech is paying her a royalty, even though she has been relevant more recently than Tech football.

6. [Insert joke here]

When it comes to blows, Tech football blows the hardest.

I'm still working on the details. but it's got to be something homoerotic......

GT Football: Take your best shot...and we'll calculate the force you exerted! Hmmhehehe!

As a tribute to our favorite show, "The Contender", we'll be playing at least half of every game in slow motion and the PA system will greatly amplify all hits and our subsequent groans of pain. The dramarama should be palpable!

Yellow gloves make boxers look really tough.

A couple entries...

"Georgia Tech: We Take a Good Beating"

"If you play at Georgia Tech, you better have a good chin"

"Nerds can be tough, too!"

"Buy a ticket to the Samford game, get a free shot at Reggie Ball or Chan Gailey!"

I'll show you a big impromptu tickle pile big boy! Do you want to be the tight end or wide receiver?

"Inexplicably, 'mug' was digitally removed before 'shot'."

"Calvin Johnson must've worn those fingerless gloves during the UGA game last year."

"Helping Reggie count to four by using a ring girl with a sign."

"Ever seen Cinderella Man? It's like that, but without winning."

"Georgia Tech Football. Take your best shot...of liquor. ND's gonna kick our ass."

"Take your best shot. If we lose, the kid in the bleachers doing homework won't notice."

I think I'm done....for now.

I hate Tech.

Georgia Tech- Come for the football, stay for the homoerotic studies program!

Tech Football- If Tom Zbikowski stepped in this ring, we'd soil ourselves.

Tech football- Because somebody already rented all the Star Wars costumes.

Yellow Jacket football- the only Atlanta sports fans more delusional than Evander Holifield.

With apologies to Simon & Garfunkel, I bring you, Reggie Ball’s hit, “The Quarterback”

I am just a poor boy and my story’s seldom told
I have squandered my eligibility for a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises
All lies and jest, still Coach Gailey hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest, hmmmm

When I left my home and my family, I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of Bobby Dodd Stadium, runnin’ scared
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters, where Reuben Houston go
Looking for the places only he would know

Li la li...

Asking only to play quarterback, I come lookin’ for a job, but I get no offers
Just a comeon from Coach Nix on Techwood avenue
I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there

Now the years are rolling by me, they are rockin’ even me
I am older than I once was, and younger than I’ll be, that’s not unusual
No it isn’t strange, after changes upon changes, we are more or less the same
After changes we are still 5’9” and three quarters

Li la li...

And I’m laying out my winter clothes, wishing I was gone, goin’ home
Where the Boise and Utah winters aren’t bleedin’ me, leadin’ me to go home

In the clearing stands a quarterback, and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every Dawg that laid him down or cut him
till he cried out in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains
Yes he still remains

Li la li...

Paul Westerdawg and good ol' Slobberknocker (IQ = 68) told me that they loved the bulge in Calvin's trunks. Slobber: "Damn, it looked like a g-damn mooring cable".
