It's official. Spurrier has suspended one of his starting offensive guards for the first 4 games. James Thompson, a junior, will likely be replaced tonight in Starkville by a true freshmen.
This is the 2nd projected starting OLineman from last spring that will miss our game. They had also recruited a Juco OT who didn’t qualify. He was projected to anchor the LT spot.
This really helps balance out the suspension of Dan Inman for Georgia.

I'm not sure this was what the coaches meant when they said "It's always Inman and someone," but hats off to The Evil Genius for having the stones to enforce discipline.
I think our own coaching staff does a pretty fair job of enforcing rules, too. 18-22 year old boys are going to do stupid stuff, but it's not exactly like our guys are out committing murders and rapes every day. Some of them get traffic tickets. Some of them get caught drinking beer or smoking pot. You wish they wouldnt, but sometimes all you can do is show a little tough love.
It does seem odd to me that Reuben Houston hardly missed more playing time (and did less jail time) for being involved in a deal to sell about 100 pounds of marijuana than Darius Swain did for failing to pay a traffic ticket, but I'm not a Tech grad.
speaking of Spurrier, he's one of the people I hate competitively, but respect immensely. He doesnt alibi when he loses, and he doesnt pretend he didnt enjoy it when he wins. He dishes it out pretty good, but he takes it without complaint. You have to respect that about him. I hope he never wins an SEC East or beats us the rest of his life, but the guy is a great college coach.
I really like Spurrier. Even his jokes about UGA were funny to me. Made me mad at the time, but they were funny. Plus, he by all accounts runs a clean program.
yuo dumb leg humpers think just cuz were losing a OG that you got an automattic win vs the Cocks, think again.... you guys r so over confident well we will see what hhappens when you come to columbia next week & blake mitchel carves you up like a thnaksgiving turkey...... joe tersheniski 3 NO CHANCE IN H?LL........GO COCKSSSSSS
Sorry, just wanted to write that before some SC fan did. You know they want to.
One thing that is consistent about Visor Boy: he doesn't take any *$&@ off his players. He sets team rules and standards and if one busts them, then they sit. Do it enough, and they're off the team.
I can't help but respect a man like that. I think he runs a clean program and expects the other coaches around the country to do the same.
