UGA Gameday Parking Update

(not a joke - official UGA announcement)
ATHENS, Ga., August 24 - UGA Parking Services has announced that Friday, Aug. 25 at Noon is the deadline for ordering pre-paid parking passes for deck parking before the first home game. After that time, the website will be closed through the first game to allow all passes to be delivered promptly.

The price for a seven-game parking pass is $140, or $20 per home game. Purchase of a parking pass guarantees a pass holder a spot in their selected deck, regardless of when they arrive on gameday.

After kick-off against Western Kentucky, the site will re-open through Friday, Sept. 8 at noon, and will allow UGA season ticket holders to order a pass for the remaining six home games for $120.00. Parking passes remain available for the Carlton Street, North Campus, and South Campus decks.

    More info here.
Honestly, I like this idea. It's a reasonable price to pay for an advance ticket in a deck. If you don't want to park in a deck, don't park in a deck. They should've made buying parking online available MONTHS ago instead of this half ass last minute stuff. But, otherwise it's a good idea that will help many folks.

Personally, I'm of the George Costanza school of thought when it comes to parking.

"I will never pay for parking. To me, paying for parking is like prostitution. Why pay for it, when, if I apply myself, I can get it for free?"
-- George Costanza

Who can we complain to about not letting the band park on campus on gamedays? That's like at least 300 parking spaces. Can't they park over on Milledge and be bused over since they have to be here all at the same time for practice? It would free up some considerable parking on South Campus.

Getting a parking place can be important, and even more so with MA and reign of terror, but I parked in the south deck a few years ago, and hated it, and it was only about $5.00, I think. Problems are 1) no tailgating - at least not worth talking about, and 2) getting out at the end of the game is a nightmare, much worse than normal traffic. All that for only $20.00? Not if I can help it.
