Jeff Schultz's lucid comment

Our newest, bestest buddy, and big toe

I actually agree with some of the Snarky Jeff Schultz column when he says,
"I will grant you that I missed the last few issues of the New England Journal of Medicine. (Still working my way through the swimsuit issue.) But since when do rehabs from ankle injuries elevate somebody’s skill level?"
Personally, I don't see Joe T as the savior of the offense by virtue of a great talent infusion. I don't think the offense needs a talent infusion. It needs someone to step up and make the types of plays they are capable of making.

-- Dan Inman for all his flaws as a pass blocker is a very capable run blocker.
-- Mo Mass for all his drops this year showed last year that he's capable of making big plays at WR.
-- Chester Adams showed in the first three games that he has solid ability. Since his bout with stomach ulcers, his play has gone south. If he's healthy, he can make more plays on offense.

We need guys like that to just step up and make the sorts of plays they are capable of making. If they do, our running game will open up by virtue of better blocking, and our passing game will open up by virtue of the return of our most consistent WR from last year.

If they do step up, the defense is good enough to make the game close at the end and give us a shot.

If Joe T can will the players around him to snap out of their funks, then start him. If he can't do that...then we're in big trouble on Saturday. Sigh..if we only had JD Stokley.

Good, someone else heard that Lou Holtz comment, so I'm not the one going crazy. Holtz, however, might be.

I don't think anyone, including CMR and probably also JT3 himself, thinks his being in the game makes him the savior of the O, by virtue of a great talent infusion. But it might by virtue of experience within the system. Worst case scenario? We have to fall back on what hasn't been especially effective in the last couple of games. Even without seeing practice - and reports are that JT3 has done well in practice - you start your senior in a game like this.

Granny? Well, let's just say that more and more, ESPN is becoming the old coaches rest home. Trev Alberts, and pretty much anyone that makes any sense just doesn't belong.

Holtz is a dope. Mark May needs to start calling him out on his senior moments. Joe T is not going to play the whole game. Stafford will get his looks. It doesn't matter who is QB if the WR's continue to play like they have the past couple of weeks. The QB position is not our biggest problem. The Junk Yard Dawgs MUST play lights out!

An entire blog could be devoted to Holtz's nonsense. If we could get all of his stupid comments immediately transcribed on the web, it might be our best shot yet at perpetual motion.

I don't get this defeatist mindset from a team that's beaten us 5 out of 6, is ranked above us, and is 5-0. Make the game close? Give us a shot?

Puhlease.

Heh. Reading Georgia and Tennessee blogs over the past week or so, it's almost like they've been in a race to see who can dump on their own team the most. "Damn, our offense sucks!" "Yeah, but Tennessee can't afford to be overconfident!" "Are you kidding? Have you seen the 'tards in our receiving corps?" "Have you seen what Ainge looks like against a good defense?" "I'd KILL to have Ainge as our QB!" and on and on and on.

I propose that someone, maybe a neutral observer like Brian at MGoBlog, issue a Collective Straight Bangin' Special Achievement award for the team whose bloggers do the most thorough job of backhanding their own team and pumping up the opponent.

can someone explain to me what the "system" is-i have never been able to figure out the logic of UGAs play calling unless it is look for an opening and exploit- there never seems to be any ryhme or reason to the play calling (i'm not just talking about this year)and no real offensive flow which is why these drop balls are complete drive killers-our offense would be looking pretty good right now if 60% of those drops were caught

Doug, it's not just that. There also seems to be an holy truce among the more level headed UT and UGA fans.

They can only talk so much smack with 5 of 6 hanging over their heads, and we can only talk so much smack with our WRs dropping 30% of the passes thrown to them (not a joke by the way).

Our QB's have been disapointing IMO

There is nothing wrong with the QBs that better blocking, catching, AND play calling can't fix. More quick slants and passes to backs and tight ends would be a start. I have no doubt that UGA has the worst yards after catch stat in the country (very close to our yards after drop stat.) With that said, I'm sure that by now the staff has identified the problems and put in fixes. This is the week for the offense to put up some points.

Our Defense is not playing as well as they should but they have the speed and talent. I suspect that as our LBs and DBs get into the groove, the defense will be just fine. There is a good chance that Moses or Johnson will put Ainge in the training room or worse.

As for this weekend, Georgia will find the spark it needs to whip up on UT. This game will be the start of a special season - NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!
