Chick-Fil-A Bowl Talks Georgia Bulldogs

From Leeman Bennett's Blog:
"We made no secret of the fact that the Georgia / Georgia Tech game was a possible play-in game for the Bulldogs and Georgia took full advantage of the opportunity. Right now we’re looking at an 8-win team that beat a No. 5 Auburn on the road and a No. 16 Georgia Tech team to finish the season. That’s a strong statement for Coach Richt and his team that has showed a lot of character coming down the stretch. We’re also looking at a team that hasn’t played in the Chick-fil-A Bowl since 1998 that could deliver a great match-up against a Virginia Tech or a Wake Forest team."
Things are looking good for a UGA vs. Virginia Tech match-up. The Dawgs don't end up here if the SEC fails to place two teams in the BCS, which seems unlikely at this point.

PWD I gotta know exactly what you think if Arkansas wins the SEC instead of the Gators.

You see, I could care less what happens to Florida. Hell, they'd be Boise bound if it were up to me, but the truth be known, I just can't see Florida being snubbed of a BCS game after beating LSU the way they did earlier in the season.

So, it's almost a lock that the SEC gets two teams in the BCS.

Who do you screw in the process?

My thoughts...LSU.

BCS Eligibility Rule #6 says that if an at-large spot is still available after the #3 BCS team, Notre Dame and Boise State are picked (which there will be) the BCS has to select the team ranked #4 IF they aren't a conference winner.

If Florida loses, LSU would move up to #4 in the BCS. They would become an automatic selection.

LSU wouldn't be an automatic qualifier, Paul.

Rule #6 only applies if there is no automatic qualifier under rule #5. Since Michigan is not a conference champ, but will finish at 3 in the BCS, they automatically qualify under Rule #5. So #6 won't come into play.

LSU is most likely going to get a bid, but it won't be automatic.
