The Bulldawg Blawg gave me a heads up on this one. It's the moment that set up the 4 overtime scenario in 1996.

Here's what I love/loathe about the major networks... who else has seen all this "UGA has lost 4 out of the last 5 to Auburn" stats goin around. Really? Cause I don't know about yall but I coulda sworn we beat em twice in a row in 02 and 03, Michael Johnson game in their house, 99 yd Odell pick six the next year in Athens. In fact we beat them worse in 03 than they beat us in their 'peoples championship' season, but leave it to those same networks they kept sayin Blake Mitchell spurned the homestate Dawgs to go to SC, they OBVIOUSLY have the real scoop! nevermind how we never even offered the kid... heaven forbid these major sports tv networks from doing a TON of research, I'm sure it'd take them all night to hit up a few links on rivals or cfb data warehouse!
Will,
You are correct. We won in 2003 26-7 and in 2002 24-21.
Perhaps the talking heads were confusing the fact that we had lost 4 of our last 5 games this year.
