Bleaux Out -- LSU Clobbers Notre Dame

Image: ESPN.com

Year 2 of the "Charlie Weis Sooper Genius Reign of Success and Championships" ends with a blowout loss in the Sugar Bowl. In 2005, the Fighting (sic) Irish didn't beat a team that finished the season ranked in the Top 25.

Unless Penn State (9-4) finishes the season ranked, ND will end the season once again without a victory over a ranked team. In fact, versus ranked teams this year the Irish were outscored 136-59. In the Sugar Bowl's second half, Weis' magic offense was outgained 72 yards to 304 for LSU.

However, I'm sure they'll draw comfort from proudly displaying their Commander in Chief trophies gained via their numerous victories over the service academies. Feast on Cupcakes like a Champion Today.

I enjoyed that last night as well. I also found it ironic at one point that as the FOX crew was talking about B. Quinn (who had an average game at best) being a top pick, Jamarcus Russell was completing another 40 yard rope down field.

Go Rudy!!

Someone commenting during the EDSBS Sugar Bowl liveblog made a good point: As much temporary fun as it may be for ND fans to watch their team get BCS invites they didn't really deserve, it probably has a lot to do with the fact that they haven't won a bowl since Kurt Cobain was alive. To wit, if you're pitting a Notre Dame team that got into the BCS solely because of its name brand against an LSU or Ohio State team that got in because, you know, they're actually really good, whom do you think is gonna win?

Maybe Charlie Weis should quietly request a knockdown to the Cotton Bowl for the next couple of years until he's got his own recruits fully entrenched.

I was just glad that Fox didn't subject me to 30 minutes worth of footage of Brady Quinn's sister like I had to endure last year. I'm still amazed that the Irish beat anyone this year with pass defense like that. I guess thats why they play the service academies where development of the forward pass is still bogged down in committee hearings.

That was a great post, but my favorite part was the "topic" that it was filed under- too good!
LSU, thank you.

I don't think they were as overrated at the end of this year as they were last year, but Notre Dame had no business in a BCS Bowl. I feel sorry for the NFL team that buys into the hype and takes Quinn. If I were a betting man, I'd put money on the Miami Dolphins being the suckers.

I too found it odd that the announcers were making such a big deal about Quinn while Russell was was moving LSU up and down the field like a marching band.

And after watching Michigan fall to it's knees in front of the USC team, I wonder if Florida actually has a chance against tOSU?

Regardless, as much as I'd like to see another SEC bowl victory, GO BUCKEYES!!! FK FLA!!!

Did you hear Howie Long refer to Charlie Weis as the "fattest man on the planet"? He may have said maddest (after the ND fumble recovery was overturned), but it SURE sounded like fattest.

Props to the Fox camera crew for the NUMEROUS shots of the LSU Golden Girls- doesn't get any better than that.

F--k the luck, the Irish suck!

As much as it pains me to say this, and as insufferable as they'll be if they win, a Gator victory will be great for the SEC.
