Clemson, FSU and ESPN announced yesterday that Bowden Bowl IX will be televised on ESPN at 8:00 pm on Labor Day night.
It will be Clemson's first Monday night game since the 1982 season opener vs. Georgia on ABC when the defending national champs from '80 and '81 squared off under the new Sanford Stadium lights. Of course, the Dawgs won that one.
The Clemson announcement is only relevant to Georgia fans in that it further frees up TV inventory on Saturday, Sept. 1st, and it makes room for a strong national time slot for Georgia vs. Oklahoma State.
As I said a few weeks ago, the so far announced national college football schedule is shaping up for an ESPN night game when the Pokes come to Athens. I'm guessing a kickoff between 5:00 and 8:00 pm.

Clemson under the lights in '91 was special. Braves clinched the division, stadium was doing the Chop, and the Dawgs upset the #7 ranked Tigers.
Little known fact from that Clemson night game in 91': Nirvana played at the Georgia Theater after the game. What a night!
Elaboration - Nirvana played about 3 songs, trashed their instruments and left the stage. Everybody left and went over to the GA Theatre and watched Dread Zeppelin finish out their set. One of my greatest nights in Athens.
Nirvana played at the 40 Watt. Dread Zeppelin played at the GA Theatre.
