Sidney Rice and other SEC foes declare for draft

Our week two match-up against the Gamecocks just got easier as South Carolina wide receiver Sidney Rice declared for the NFL Draft. Other big name SEC guys are joining him:Calvin Johnson hasn't announced yet; however, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Calvin is trying to figure out if the Raiders are looking to draft him #1 overall. Their comment:
"There is speculation that Johnson is gauging whether the Oakland Raiders, who own the top pick, would draft him. If so, despite more than $26 million in guarantees, Johnson likely would return to college."

Yep - I've got no issues with SC being without Rice for our game - none whatsoever......

I hate to agree with a Techie but I'd advise Calvin to do the same thing - however, he's not going there. That's Jamarcus all the way.

I'd say it's a pretty even three-horse race for who gets the privilege of being the latest first round bust for the Raiders, between JaMarcus Russell, Calvin Johnson, and Brady Quinn. That said, I agree that CJ should stick around and see if Taylor Bennett can make him look like more of a monster next year, since, after his performance in Yech's bowl game, Bennett can actually throw to the guys on his team.

Regarding Johnson, there's nothing left for that kid to prove. Even when Tech plays well and gets him the ball, they lose. Why run the risk of injury? He should jump into the draft and be one of the first three picks taken.
