It worked so well last time. Why not?
Chan Gailey's future with the Yellow Jackets is still up in the air. Earlier today the UK (the one on the other side of the pond...not the one north of Tenn.) Daily Mail reported that Gailey to Miami is a done deal.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel says that Gailey and Cam Cameron are the two front-runners. The paper also says that Gailey is telling recruits like Morgan Burnett that the situation should be resolved one way or the other by Thursday (today).
More vaguely, the Miami Herald was still listing Gailey among one of 5 finalists for the job including Mike Shula, Jim Mora Jr., Dom Capers and Cam Cameron. Cameron is the offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers, and the former wildy unsuccessful coach of the Indiana Hoosiers.
Realistically, if you look at that list of finalists...Gailey is the most qualified for the gig. That has to be scary if you're a Dolphins fan.
GT caught a break with this happening in a year with few scholarships to offer. The recruiting class is pretty much wrapped up because of the NCAA sanctions. However, the lingering nature of this three week long situation puts even greater pressure on Tech's athletic director to move quickly. Signing day is about 2.5 weeks away. They can't have a long drawn out search. They would need to have a coach in place within a week or so. Or the recruits could get very nervous.
Personally, I hope he stays. I'd rather take my chances with Gailey and his 0 for 5 streak against Georgia, than see what life might look like against Jimbo Fisher.

Amen, Paul. CCG staying was the best thing for us (short term and long).
Now, if only Chris Hatcher would bring Giff Smith to GSU as a Coordinator......
