Video: Frank Broyles is just keeping it real

A few weeks ago a web site called "SavetheHogs.com" debuted. That site, combined with a full page ad in an Arkansas paper, called for the resignation of Frank Broyles and Houston Nutt in an effort to save the program from the soap opera that swirls around Nutt, Broyles, Gus Malzahn, Mitch Mustain and the rest of the Springdale Trio.

The SaveTheHogs.com site described a meeting in Dallas of the Arkansas Alumni Association at which Frank Broyles, the athletic director, spoke about the program. Despite the controversy surrounding the program, the site said that Broyles took questions from the crowd.

The web site's description of Broyles' answers about the Soap Opera and the football program were so absurd and inappropriate that one would be tempted to write the entire web site off as the ravings of a loon. Something slightly more credible than FireRonZook.com.

Well...it looks like their info was rock solid.
Broyles' did in fact say that Arkansas had the #8 ranked potential in the SEC, and that most folks tell him that "You will never get a top coach at Arkansas." And there's quite a bit more. See for yourself.

Frank Broyles. A graduate of the Dave Braine School of Sandbagging, Crippling Expectations and Bad Quotes.

That place is a zoo.

And all this over a team that just won 10 friggin' games!!

By the way, I'm pissed at you for making a Dave Braine joke before I could.

Doug - #8 in the SEC means that he thinks their potential is below South Carolina's.

Ouch.

There's no doubt their potential is below South Carolina's.

1) Their stadium holds 8,000 fewer fans.
2) Their state doesn't produce as much in-state D1 talent.
3) Nutt/Spurrier.

I wonder if people realize just how much Braine crushed our football program. What an absolute assclown.

Sounds like Broyles is from the same cloth, and needs to hitch the nearest rail right out of town.

Financially, isn't Arkansas in excellent shape, though?

They get money from the Walton's and the Tyson foods empires, correct?

^Ignore the superfluous apostrophe.

I'm not saying that I think Broyles's comments were appropriate, though it is worth pointing out that he was apparently quoting from some newspaper's rankings, not necessarily his own opinion.

I just can't remember the last time a team went from 4-7 to 10-4 and managed to implode this completely. I'm thinking Houston Nutt rues the day he ever heard Mitch Mustain's name.

I may be a newbie to the blog but I don't see anything wrong with what Broyles said. Other than he should've added something about how he disagreed with the #8 ranking or how that left plenty of upside for a coach.
Parents calling, much less visiting, the AD to complain about tickets is just bullsh*t. They need an asskicking.
