Today, the Lady Dogs beat Arkansas and Vandy lost to UT. The two events converged to give Andy Landers' squad an exceptional bracket path in the Women's SEC Tourney. The seeding is:- 1. Tennessee
2. Georgia
3. Vandy
4. LSU
SEC Men's Bracket
On the men's side, Vanderbilt beat Kentucky today to give the Dores inside track at the #2 seed in the SEC East. Georgia is now locked in a three way tie with UK and UT for third place in the East, and we play both of them in the next two games. UK has UGA (home) and UF (road) while UT finishes their season with UF (home) and UGA (road).
Here are some of our more likely scenarios (there are others):
- -- Beat both. Secure the 3 seed. Make the NCAA tourney with wiggle room to spare. Avoid UF til Saturday. Likely avoid UK all together or until Sunday.
-- Beat either. Likely secure the East's 4 seed. Most likely make the NCAA tourney. Avoid UF or UK til Sunday at the Dome. Have our best chance in 10+ years to make it to Saturday or beyond in the tourney. In other words, we can actually play the SEC tourney for NCAA seeding.
-- Beat neither. Weep openly. Take the 5 seed. Miss the NCAA tourney. Catch a blistering beat down on Friday (if we make it that far) in the SEC tourney vs. the Gators.

Well, since you put it that way, let's not do that third thing. That doesn't sound like much fun at all.

that looks to be the gist of it, although heaven forbid win 1 of 2, then get upset in round 1.
I'll say this....the West is so unexpectedly AWFUL. That losing in Round 1 could be very, very costly.
I guess that's possible. Man, would that hurt. I think we're going to lose Wednesday (although the idea that the Tubby regime is entering a death spiral is tempting, I reject it based on a steady diet of nearly annual beat downs at Rupp) and win Saturday.
At that point, most Dog fans are going to think we're in, and I hope they say that even if they don't think so. To lose to a West bottom feeder and then go out would be painful.
Got to get it done in that first tournament game.
Georgia Men's Basketball team is dancing, having won indeed 4 of the last 5 games. Our NCAA Official RPI is Number 52 and we are 2 games ABOVE .500 in the SEC Regular Season.

Georgia Tech is OUT, not in the Big Dance. With their 2 games UNDER .500 in the ACC Regular Season, having lost 2 of its last 3 games, a very weak Strength of Schedule of Number 37, and losses to teams like Weak Forest RPI Number 122, the ACC simply put has 3 of the worst teams in America in Weak Forest Number 122 RPI, Miami of Florida Number 152 RPI, and NC State RPI Number 116.
