Dawgs Win vs. Auburn
Image: Georgiadogs.com
Georgia beat Auburn 80-65 and advanced to faced the Gators tonight at 7:30 pm in the SEC Tournament. A win (an *obvious* long shot) vs. the Gators would put the Dawgs into the NCAA bubble discussion.
As of late tonight, our RPI is back up to 58th. We jumped about 8 spots with the win over Auburn (RPI around 100). A win over the Top 10 RPI Gator squad would probably launch us into the 45 or higher range.
The win at the SEC Tourney was the first for Georgia since Levi Stukes' freshman year in which he hit eight 3 pointers to beat Auburn. Prior to that, Georgia hadn't won an SEC Tourney game since (from memory) Tubby's first year. NOTE: I can't find my media guide to confirm that...if anyone has an update post it in the comments. I know Harrick never won an SEC Tourney game. Sure that's pathetic, but I don't think UT has won more than 1 or 2 tournament games in the past 10 years.
Anyway....Stukes had 6 threes in this one to lead all scorers with 22 points. Takais Brown added 19 points and 13 rebounds. See the box score for more details.

I'm pretty sure Jirsa won an SEC tourney game his last season, but can't remember who it was against.
Takais Brown was an absolute beast last night. I loved seeing him have a good game.
I'm not sure what we can do to beat the Gayturds tonight. It's the ONE team we really don't match up well with.
Let's hope Humphrey & Stukes stay hot and we can get some momentum going.
We actually match up okay with them, they just have better players. No shame in that considering they've got 3 guys who will be going in the top 15 picks in the NBA draft.
In other amusing news, NERDS LOSE! NERDS LOSE!
I do wonder what, if anything, this will do for the total number of bids available...
Amazingly, Tennessee is only 7-16 in the tourney since the divisions split and has NEVER played on Saturday.
Jirsa was 1-2 in the SEC Tourney. We beat MSU in 1998, then lost to Ole Miss. The next year, we lost to Alabama in the 1st Round.
Harrick was 0-2 in the SEC Tourney with 1st Round losses to Arkansas and LSU. We all know what....cough.....cough.....happened before he could coach his last SEC Tournament game.
