Thoughts and Prayers go out to the Virginia Tech Family

Nothing this blog could say that would be appropriate or sufficient except to say our thoughts and prayers are with the Hokie Nation.

If you're referring to Jamie Bishop, he not only earned a Master's from UGA, but his Bachelor's degree as well. He was a great guy - graduated with me at UGA - and will be terribly missed. He was probably the smartest person I've ever know and one of the finest men of character that lived.
God Bless the Bishop family.
Also, Ryan Clark, the RA that was shot during the 1st incident in the dorm, is from Martinez. The article in the AJC describes him as an outstanding young man - would've graduated in a few weeks with a double major & a 4.0. Was going on to persue a doctoral degree in psychology. He also played in the Hokie Marching Band & was at the Peach-fil-A Bowl. He was murdered for running to the aid of another.
Georgia lost 2 of its finest citizens yesterday.
God Bless their loved ones and all those who lost someone yesterday.

This random, unspeakable act of violence is just overwhelming. This cowardly, selfish, soulless murderer could have rendered his wrath just as easily at our beloved school, the University of Georgia. There has got to be a better way of protecting people, not only at a major university, but at any school in this country. Mass shootings at learning institutions seems to be almost a uniquely American problem. And it is already being politicized for the upcoming elections. Something has to be done because, invevitably, it will happen again. God Bless those affected. So sad.

There is a better way but to some the idea of allowing armed resource officers seems a bit extreme. Its funny when at times like these some people tend to bring up gun control. The only gun control that would be fit in my opinion is that the only gun control needed would have been someone picking the gun up from that insane kids hands after they shot him dead. Such a sad day for the country and the Blacksburg area. Its unforutnate Georgia lost two incredible people.
