Auburn Fans: Happy 2000 Day

As of today, it has been 2000 days since Alabama beat Auburn. So congrats Auburn fans. You earned a special day of gloating.

If the person who printed these shirts has a cafepress or spreadshirt account, let me know. I'll link over to it. I'd like to give attribution to such a tremendously good idea, but all I have is an email forward right now.

When can we get a shirt like that for GT?

i was thinking the same thing....it just takes longer to count that high. ;-)

so wait, if I'm reading this shirt correctly, success for Auburn is bad for America.

We're already up to 2,365 days in the UGA-GT rivalry, boys. But maybe somebody can start selling a "Happy 2500 Day" shirt when September 30 rolls around.

todd- EXACTLY!

Uh, you had asked to let you know if there was something strange on your blog, well the comment above this one seems to be a bit off topic.

Jason - Yep. that's exactly the nut job that causes me to ask for the heads up.

Thanks. I deleted it.

I don't think the t-shirt is cute at all. Neither is the one that said "fear the thumb!". Yeah Auburn won on the field - good for them - but I still hate 'em and I'm not even a Bama fan. I'm just a Georgia Bulldog.

Also, having those type of shirts made up for our dominance over tech would be bush league for Georgia. We don't need to stoop to that level of arrogance and tackiness.

I think Anon is a Techie that doesn't wanna see us walking around in those sweetass shirts.

Heh, I think it'd be funny to see Georgia shirts like that for Tech. Rivalries are better for things like this, and if you don't like getting made fun of ... well, go win some games so you can do it yourself. I'm sure 'bama fans would be rubbing it in if they were in the other boat, and I sure as hell know Tech fans would (I was pretty unbearable when we won 3 IAR, let alone 6).

Bragging about how many days in a row we've beaten Tech is like bragging how many days in a row I've eaten dinner.

Dawgnoxious,
Some get it, some don't. Those that don't are an embarrasment.

It's sad the current generation of UGa fans feels beating Tech is a birthright (13 of the last 16, ugh) - we've got to start holding up our own end.

Lets make a deal - you guys come out wearing Auburn uniforms against us, and we'll get Florida to wear UT uniforms against you and both teams can get over the hump in the streaks. Right now both programs have mental blocks on those games.

Uh Nathan, it is our birthright.

Auburn has historically been 2nd fiddle to Bama. This would be like Tech beating UGA 5 in a row (God forbid).

Like Dawgnoxious said, why would you want to commemorate something that is as mundane as getting out of bed in the morning?

Nathan said...

In 1990 we were coming off our 4th NC and the all time record of the series of 45-35-5, which is decently well balanced (in UGa's favor, but not horribly so).

Since then, you've gone 13-3 and it hasn't been much of a rivalry. But for UGa fans to say "it's always been this way" is pretty ignorant. You do realise the longest streak in the series is 8 IAR by GT, right?

GT needs to win about 3-4 IAR again, and pretty soon. It's gotten way too lopsided post-Bobby Ross.

We just need to beat Florida.

It isn't just a post-Bobby Ross thing Nathan. I am well aware of the 8-year stretch you talk about, as i'm sure you're aware that we retired Theron Sapp's number just for breaking that streak.

Since then, the Dawgs and Jackets have played 50 times, with UGA holding a 36-14 record. That includes 3 streaks of at least 6 in a row, including the current one. The longest winning streak for y'all during the last 50 years was 3 games (twice).

All I'm saying is that is isn't as recent a trend as you'd like to believe.

Nathan - we've won 7 of 10 for the past 50 or years. We've dominated the series since the 1960s.

While it might not be our "all-time" birthright, it certainly is in the era since face masks, desegregation and indoor plumbing.

Oh certainly, basically since we left the SEC it swung way to UGa's favor.

But the last 15 years have been brutal (and really don't make that much sense, UGa has only one 2 SEC titles in that time frame and hasn't been some USC / Miami like dynasty - no good excuse for losing 13 of 16 other than we've sucked)

Well, Nathan has finally said it: Tech sucks. I could have told you that.
