Dawgs on TV

By Quinton McDawg

Your friends here at the Georgia Sports Blog are going to try out a new weekly feature. Using the power of Tivo, I hope to provide you with a weekly listing of Dawg TV programming. I'll try to do this every weekend to keep you up to date on when the Dawgs will be on TV. All times are eastern.

  • UGA Dawgs Preview Show - WGCL CBS 46 (Atlanta) - Saturday (8/25) at 7:00 PM - another season preview show with lots of features.
  • 1983 Sugar Bowl - Georgia v. Penn State - ESPN Classic - Wednesday (8/29) at 9:00 AM - divert your eyes as you watch one of the most disappointing losses in Georgia football history.
  • 1981 Sugar Bowl - Georgia v. Notre Dame - ESPN Classic - Wednesday (8/29) at 5:00 PM - the greatest win in UGA football history as Herschel and the Dawgs win it all.
  • Georgia College Football Preview - Sunshine Network - Friday (8/31) at 2:00 AM - you've likely already seen this show as it has been running almost every day on SportSouth or FSN South.
  • Oklahoma State at Georgia - ESPN2 - Saturday (9/1) at 6:45 PM - The football season kicks off against orange cowboys in one of the best out of conference games of the year. You really should be in Athens for this one. Replay: Sunday morning on ESPN2 at 3:30 AM - Stumble in from downtown, turn on the tube and either relieve the glory or figure out how an early loss won't impact our national championship hopes.
  • The Mark Richt Show - SportSouth - Sunday (9/2) at 12:30 PM - Coach Richt breaks down the game. Replay: 7:30 PM. The show may air in your local market at a different time and different network.

I often relieve my glory after stumbling in from downtown.

If we wanted to get even more in-depth we could also add AJ Green's HS game on ESPN tomorrow at 12:00. I can't wait to see him in action!

I don't know if these are the same guys that are doing the the Georgia College Football Preview, but I saw some Gators preview show (it was the middle of the day, nothing on, getting intel on the enemy), but honestly I couldn't watch it- not because of the orange or jorts, but because the segments were so shallow and worthless. They had Doering talking with Caldwell and the current WR sounded as smart as a box of hammers. Then they turned to 2 guys for "analysis" for the season. And basically for Florida to succeed this year, "they will have play good offense, defense and special teams." Thanks for cracking the secret code for us.

Like I said, I don't know if this is the same crew, I think that one was CSTV, but it offered very little other than usual coach soundbites and grade school analysis.

One thing you did miss was CMR's appearance in "Facing the Giants" today on Starz.

jasonc brings up a good point...

If you have followed the Dawgs over the spring and summer on sites like this one, you already know more than the previews will tell you. The preview shows (and most magazine and newspaper previews for that matter) are about as deep as a puddle.
