We're still far enough out that the forecasts are changing day by day, but we do have a directional sense of how the weather is trending for the home opener vs. Oklahoma State at 6:45 pm EST.
-- The heat wave looks to break a little. Weather.com's weekend forecast for the 30602 zip code (the official address for Butts-Mehre Hall) shows an afternoon high of 90 degrees with a low of 67. Better still, AccuWeather.com shows a high of 86 and a low of 68.
-- Chance of rain as the day progresses? The Weather.com forecast shows 30% chance of Isolated Thunderstorms in the day and a 60% chance of showers at night. Whereas, the AccuWeather forecast shows "Times of Cloud and Sun" in the day and partly cloudy at night.
What does all that mean? It means that the Georgia Sports Blog now endorses AccuWeather.com's forecasts b/c they told me exactly what I wanted to hear. They're projecting a 15-20 degree drop in temperature from what we've endured through much of August and not a whole lot of rain.
