Another week of games didn't make my vote for the SEC Power Poll any less of a challenge. The weekend confirmed who the best team in the conference is, but complicated everything else. Spots 3. through 9. remain fluid and the quality of opponents continues to hide the true relative competitiveness of all those middling teams.
- LSU - Destroyed the Hokies in a game they completely controlled throughout. The Tigers look like a machine so far, grinding opponents into a bloody chum for Mike VI.
- Florida - Another big performance against a patsy. Can Vols slow the Tebow?
- Arkansas - The Hawgs move up during an idle week based almost entirely on the average performances of others. We should get a better read on the Hawgs after this week's game.
- South Carolina - The Cocks did enough to beat the Dawgs in Athens, but didn't look overpowering.
- Tennessee - Eventually cruised over Southern Miss after first half struggles. Can shoot up the poll with a win this weekend.
- Alabama - Won handily, but John Parker Wilson didn't look especially sharp.
- Georgia - Weaknesses and inconsistency got the Dawgs beat last weekend. Must improve before heading to Tuscaloosa.
- Kentucky - Like Florida, they've turned in two great performances against cupcakes. The Cats can prove how far the program has come this weekend on the bluegrass.
- Auburn - Two shaky performances in a row, and the last one got them beat. Absent a bizarre night for South Florida's kicker and it would have been a true whoopin'.
- Vanderbilt - Do the Commodores have anything on offense other than Earl Bennett?
- Ole Miss - Lost to below average Big 12 team at home. Can they move up a spot this weekend by taking down the 'Dores?
- Mississippi State - Tulane win avoids 0-12?
Thoughts?

"Ole Miss lost to a below average Big 12 team"
Paul, I'll have you know that Mizzou is a preseason pick to win the Big 12 North. That puts them at least at "average."
Damn, I hope Ole Miss can beat the mighty Dores this week.
Otherwise, keep up the strong work, Westerdawg.
Whoops, you're not Paul. Sorry, Quinton.
Just because they are picked to win the North doesn't mean they're good. Who do they have to beat? The Huskers, who should have lost to Wake.
The Rebs can do themselves proud this weekend. If so, they will creep up my ballot.
Pretty much agree with the rankings except:
Arkansas - Still a mystery outside of the running back position. They could be land anywhere from 3rd to 8th.
After South Carolina and Tennessee, I see it this way:
Kentucky - Probably ranked low mostly on its history. It sounds strange, but they are much more experienced and physical this year than Alabama or Georgia.
Auburn - should be ranked above Alabama and Georgia as they are better on defense, in the kicking game, and along the offensive line. Offensive success depends on whether Brad Lester returns and whether a receiver steps up.
Alabama - Clearly improved over last year but how long will their lines hold up?
You can pretty much rank the bottom four in any order. Mississippi State may not be as bad as people think. LSU will make a lot of teams look bad this year.
