Reason #62,451 Why I Hate the Gators

If I really wanted to nitpick, I would point out that this particular logo has virtually no success against the Dawgs. It's the script Gators logo that's the mark of the Beast. I *wish* the Gators would've busted out their throwback uniforms in Jacksonville last year instead of against the Tide in G'ville.

Totally unrelated, but Terrence Moore has his bi-yearly article that I agree with. He basically says that it's time to stop making excuses about the location, the bye-week, the injuries, etc and just win the damn game. The streak is mind bogglingly ridiculous.

Wow - I just posted the same thing on the Vent about his column. IMHO it is dead on. No excuses, no whining just man up and take care of business.

I'm becoming more and more optimistic as the week goes on.

Go Dawgs!!

UGA - 30 (*Coutu wins it late)
UF - 28

i believe this is game alone is why noone takes uga seriously as a powerhouse. no other powerhouse has been man-handeld by one team for the past 20 years!

I agree wholeheartedly. I believe that there are two things that hold back UGA's public perception (and these are only my opinions):

1. Repeatedly losing to UF (with better teams: 2002, 2003, 2005 - even without DJ)

2. The loss to WVU in the Sugar Bowl. We just came off thrashing LSU and were perceived the new SEC powerhouse. Instead of bullying WVU like USF does and having 2 Sugar Bowl victories in 3 years, we played passive and it was 28-0 in the blink of an eye. Now, the team showed character in coming back but the dye was cast. All of the sudden, CWM and CMR's reputation was a knocked a bit.

We can start the healing by beating UF this weekend in a game that most people think we'll lose.

Go Dawgs!!

If someone wants to research it they can, but if I am not mistaken, I believe Fla has beaten Tenn 11 out of 15. While it doesn't excuse us for a horrible and frustrating streak, it is amazing how much attention our streak gets and the Tenn one slips by mostly unnoticed.

But I do agree, it's time to put all that crap aside and go out and do the things that win games- great gameplan & execution, great adjustments and effort.

What about Auburn's dominance over Alabama? Our record against UF in the 90s is meaningless now. The bye-week has been a determining factor in this game (as it is across the SEC) and now it is our turn. We are definitely the weaker team this year and may pull off the upset simply because we are rested and they are not. It's not an excuse it is a reason.

As David Ching pointed out on his blog a couple days ago, though, Florida had their bye week on the 13th, so it's not like they're coming off the end of some marathon stretch of games. I think the bye week is nice for us, I hope we make half as good use of it as Tennessee did theirs, but in the end I think its effect on this game is going to be negligible.

UF has a 15-6 streak going against UT. 2 things though.. UT has been able to win consecutive games vs. the Gators, and during one of those years they won a national title.

And let's be honest.. whose national perception is worse right now, UGA or UT?

I don't care who the Gaytors have beat and I don't care who the Hillbillys have have lost to.

I just want UGA to humiliate the Gaytors. I'd trade a 1-10 season for one win over the Gaytors.

I bleed red and black, and win or lose, I love our dawgs.

oh really? i wouldn't.

in 2004, we beat florida. beat 'em. as in, played against them and beat 'em. oh, sure, there was the usual amount of keystone koppery that for whatever reason seems to always go along with us playing florida in recent years (jeremy thomas doesn't fumble, and we probably blow florida out; the D continually biting on the zooker's ridiculously obvious trick plays), but when the game got tight, david greene made some great throws, reggie and freddie made some great catches, and soon it was run-out-the-clock time. i got to watch the florida half of the stadium fill out with a few minutes left (well, part of it...a lot of the gator faithful gave up on the game in the second quarter), i got to hurl back some of the insults that came my way those years prior, i got to toast to a dawg victory rather than cry in my beer in st. aug, etc., etc. we won, they lost, we won.

and yet, 2004 still feels like a giant missed opportunity, like a team that could have been dynamically great just deciding not to. but at least we still beat florida, right?

no, not right. because who cares about florida. we "lost" to them again the next season, but won the SEC against a superior opponent. but oh nooooo! we lost to florida?

well, guess which year feels better. and guess which year i've mostly forgotten.

Brother Dawg,

You used 14 lines to write about the last time we beat the Gaytors and only three lines to recall our very fine Championship Season.

I think I know which team you remember most.

I want to win championships, but what I NEED is to see Florida co-eds crying on tv while their orange and blue painted boyfriends hang their heads in shame. I know it is not logical, but I'll not have rest until then.

Glory, Glory to the 2005 Championship Dawgs and all Dawg teams before and after them!

Well looks like they finally played with some emotion today and it worked.

No we did not win it late we won it early when the team stormed the field.

I was a bit surprised by that but it worked...

it is great to be a dawg fan.
