i see this game setting up like auburn-florida last week—with ut in the auburn role. bare with me: i’m not one to toot my own horn, but after seeing ole miss expose florida i picked auburn in the upset the following week. just ask my wife, who will tell you that my exact words on the monday before the game were “ah thank auburn’s gonna rear up an’ beat florida.” the reason i believed that was b/c auburn, like tn., has too much talent, programmatic pride, and traditional successfulness to take a piling on very lightly. and folks have been piling on the vols a lot recently, and i just don’t think that they’re as bad as their record and stats may suggest to some. the vols are coming into the game a dangerous, wounded animal, like auburn was last week. i wasn’t sure anyone could beat florida until they revealed their true selves against ole miss—we learned that they have some vulnerabilities. the dawgs’ vulnerabilities? well, they’ve been on display in most of the games that they’ve played since auburn 2005. don’t get me wrong—i love uga and think they have a fair-to-midlin’ chance of winning in k’ville. i even love this wacky group of dawgs who often have the attention span of a gerbil on crack.
