C.J. Hawthorne has been to New Orleans and he’s been to Las Vegas. That's about the best way to describe it. There's a longer article about Hawaii trying to stay out of trouble in New Orleans in the Honolulu Advertiser.
The Warriors senior receiver from Gulfport, Miss., said New Orleans is probably wilder, and the players will have to be at their self-disciplined best, especially on New Year’s Eve, which also happens to be the night before the Sugar Bowl against Georgia.
“Guys are going to see stuff they’ve never seen before,” Hawthorne said after today’s practice. “It’ll be for the guys from Hawaii what Hawaii was like when I first got here.” (emphasis added)

Jones' comment about Georgia players never meeting someone of Polynesian descent is pretty ignorant. Some of us have actually ventured outside the South, ya know?
Well its probably true of some georgia players its not true of others.
I remember a Tongan or Two on the girls Volleyball Team at Georgia. I also remember there was certainly fraternization between the football team and the volleyball team. I might say that some of the football players knew people of Polynesian Desent VERY well. Of course this is a couple of years ago and the players have changed. Either way its not like the players are going to go nuts when they see someone who looks polynesian.
It just makes me want some team in the SEC to hire June Jones so we can here his stupid crap more often
I've said it before and I'll say it again...over/under on Hawaii players arrested is 3 by my count.
You take all the peripheral distractions that go with a bowl like this, that players from schools like Hawaii aren't used to anyway, and you throw it down in New Orleans, and THEN you add in the, uh, records of some of the Hawaii players...oh, man. Katie bar the door.
If it will help the team, I am pesonally wiling to fight any player from Hawaii on Bourbon Street on New Year's Eve. Bring it, you coconut bra-wearing sissies!
i completely agree with rc. there is no way this can be a good thing if the hawaii papers are writing articles about how to keep the players out of trouble.
this team will not know what to do with it self when it gets down to NOLA. I expect UGA to come in very business like (aka the legacy of CMR) and get the job done.
stay classy hank... I can only hope that is a joke and we arent gonna be rude to the Hawaii fans. I have enjoyed their fans a lot and I hope we show them all the good parts of SEC football along with the butt kicking we are going to put on their team. Anyway, if the blogs are any evidence, these are probably the nicest fans we have faced all year. They want to learn more about us and I want to learn more about their women...ha!
Hawaiian women are grossly overrated. Give me Argentinians over them any day of the week.
Masivatak,
It was a J.O.K.E.
Class has nothing to do with throwing down on Bourbon Street anyway.
From the tone of your response, you must own a coconut bra too.
Just saw where Blake Barnes is leaving after the Bowl Game. I guess he wants a free trip to the Sugar Bowl and all that schwag.
I am amazed that Blake stuck around for this season.
Blake's a good guy, and I wish him the best of luck at Delta State.
just to let all u uga fans know i was at the gt kanas b ball game last night and brad nessler happened to be there. well during halftime came out to half court and talked about his time the last few days at gt's campus. and gave the greatest statement on the face of the earth! yes, brad nessler said "to hell with georgia"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was freakin hillarious! i was as suprised as you are that he said it though!
Who knew? All this time, Anon has been an 11 year old Tech fan.
Listening to june jones' act makes me appreciate CMR more. His comment really encapsulates some of the code words people use to dinigrate southern schools. jones insinuates that Georgia runs a "plantation" not an athletic department. Georgia players might not see polynesians often but they can see a coward get run out of the Georgia Dome because jeff george got up in his face on espn.
June Jones talks like a black person.
