The Georgia Bulldogs beat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 3-2 at Turner Field last night in a game marked by unbelievable defensive plays, close calls by the umps and stranded runners. However, the signature moment of the night in my mind was UGA closer Josh Fields coming to the mound in the 9th inning and absolutely obliterating the Tech hitters.
When you consider the size of the crowd (22k+ sold tickets), the big TV audience and the importance of the game to UGA's hopes of gaining a national seed in the post-season, the performance of *first time* starting pitcher Nick Montgomery also merits comment.
Also, Lyle Allen's Sports Center Highlight Package diving catch in left field was the best catch that I've ever seen in person at Turner Field. One helluva play.
This weekend, we get Bama for three games at home before heading to Hoover for the SEC Tourney. The series starts on THURSDAY.

Anybody got clips of the 2 close plays at 1st base. Of course from the 3rd base side no one could get a good view and they didn't replay it on the JumboTron.
