I've got a fever. And the only thing that can cure it is more Beaver

The national title race is now completely wide ass open. The Southern Cal strength of schedule is so weak that projections earlier in the week showed that an undefeated USC would finish below a 1 loss UGA in the computer polls. Now that USC and Ohio State each have a loss, it looks like they are both all but eliminated from consideration for the title game.

It's an SEC vs. Big 12 race for those two final slots. Saturday Night just got that much more ridiculous. (Update: Obviously, Penn State and Wisconsin are still in it from the Big 10. I sort of forgot about that conference in the hazy post-midnight victory smog.)

Insanity thy name is Blackout.

PWD

(BTW -- this loss means that Ohio State's best case scenario for their season is likely another trip to the Rose Bowl to catch another beating from Southern Cal. Now THAT is comedy.)

Yeah...USC is clearly the best team in the country. I guess our ugly win over So Car doesn't look too bad right now, does it?

Go Dawgs! FTBAS

Thank you, Beavers.

I wonder what all of those pundits and writers that crowned USC "The Greastest Team in USC History" are going to write about now.

Somewhere, Mark May is crying. Hard.

Brandon - one more: USC looked like VAGINA out there.

I think it works.

i want to know what three aholes picked this as their 13 point game in the GSB pick'em.

Pretty much any girly parts!! The SEC will show its manhood by week 5 if it allready hasn't. #1?????
Wudufuxup with that. USC was holding #1 while being only 2-0. Not so good my friend! How many SEC teams are 4-0?

Hey guys, Im STILL looking for blackout tickets. Any other options you guys can help me out with other than stubhub and ebay? Ill pay 200 for a ticket, but want good seats. Any help, you guys rock!

Anonymous said...

Something tells me that the combination of "200 bucks" and "good seats" is going to be untenable. You might get in the gates for 200, but you ain't sitting anywhere good.

Brandon,

I can't roll with the C word. I delete GD, MF and that one. I like some of your posts, but I can't roll with that.

$200 for Blackout tickets vs #8 Alabama: PRICELESS

(It's not happening, lol)

Mark May has his head so far up his own ass I doubt he's even noticed USC lost. Even when he does, it won't affect him. Like all talking heads, he'll be on the next "best team evar" as soon as ESPN picks one. Look for Missouri or Oklahoma to pick up alot of love this week.

Nothing is different.

if the guy is looking for one ticket for $200 and a good seat....he'll easily fine that ticket...(no sarcasm)

Last night did nothing but reopen the door for Ohio State.

I can hear it now...

"You saw what Rodgers did against the USC defense....imagine if Chris "Beanie" Wells had been able to play against the Trojans...."

Is it too early to call it the "Thursday Night Curse" yet? South Carolina, West Virginia, and now USC (the biggest, of course.)

The oldest coach's cliche is "Win one game at a time." But you have to wonder: is Pete Carroll so hip that he refuses to use cliches ? USC seems to lose to an inferior opponent every year.

brandon said...

Thats because they (USC) are inferior.

I paid $200 a ticket for our matchup against TN last year in the alumni section at the "Erector set by the river". Still tring to get the thought out of my head, but you should be able to find something even though that other POS stadium is bigger.

Beavers ate the Trojans

Sophomoric but funny.

I don't know what I enjoyed more: watching Peter Carroll's expressions at the end of the game, the fact that the officials were the same ones that did our game against ASU, or the crocdile tears coming from Bristol. Maybe they should hold off on crowning a national champion in September

Let's just hope our team is solely and completely focused on taking care of business Saturday night. The sideshow and subplots need not matter. Just win this game.

USC is definitely NOT out of contention. If anything, this gives us (or Florida, or LSU, or Missouri, or Oklahoma, or --- God forbid, 'Bama) a mulligan.

I don't want a mulligan, though. I want to rip through the toughest schedule in recent history and blast the hell out of the naysayers.

This is our year.

I can't be there this Saturday. I hope the fans cheer louder than ever before. I hope the players realize the magnitude of the game and make the world forget who this Cody character is. I hope John Parker Wilson gets his ass planted in the ground 4-5 times. I hope Julio Jones gets shut down. I hope Knowshon goes for 150 and 2 TDs. I hope the Dawgs are #1 come Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Remember losing to Vandy in 2006? Remember how comically awful that felt?

Now picture doing that with a demonstratively more talented team. And now picture doing it two years in a row. Congrats, you're USC.

I was one of those aholes.
I also invested in WaMu WebVan and Pets.com though so I have history.

Anonymous said...

Where is the slumni section of Sanford I hear people talk about??? I'm an alumn with season tickets but I'm not in any special seats. What am I missing?

Anonymous said...

Crane - I put 10 points on it.

I also own enough eTrade stock to choke a mule. So we're in the same boat.

As for Pets.com, never buy stock from a sock puppet. It's a good rule of thumb.

Last night, prior to the game when we were at the bar, my friend and i decided that we would do a shot of Jagermeister every time the Beavers scored.

I'm hungover.

Smitty said...

I had 12 points on USC. Damn them all to hell for that but I'm so glad they lost. How far do you think we would fall if we lost to an unranked team???? We dropped two spots and we were winning!

Smitty said...

Oh and I had some Tyco stock at one point....

Jarred said...

PWD, you mentioned that the computer polls would have put a 1-loss UGA team ahead of an undefeated USC team. Where did you get this information? I am making this argument to a couple of Big-10 homers, and have nothing to back me up. Thanks!

Smitty said...

This is why college ball is so much better than pro ball.

Anonymous said...

the "pundits" on ESPN have been either back peddling or playing down the loss.
What are you saying about your precious USC now, poll makers? Even with Georgia and Oklahoma wins this weekend, how much y'all wanna bet USC stays number 1?

Jarred said...

^ come on man... there is no way that will happen... you could bet that the media will keep them in the Top 10, but certainly no way to leave them in the Top 5.

Will said...

Corvallis, Oregon: Where USC seasons go to die.

Anonymous said...

If the pollsters are fair, they will do the same thing to USC as they did to Clemson, Ohio State and West Virginia. When you get bounced by a much lesser opponent, you deserved to be bounced right out of the top ten at least.

Do I trust the pollsters to be fair & do the right thing? Hell no.

I was just thinking, was USC's BIG win over Virginia as big as DUKE's 31-3 win over Virginia?

Blackout = blowout

get along little doggies... yip yip yip
