Tebow as a starter = 12-5 overall / 6-4 in SEC games
Stafford as a starter = 21-5 / 9-5 in SEC games
Florida's last 13 games = 8-5 (ht - Buck Belue)
Georgia's last 13 games = 11-2
Heisman Count = Tebow 1 vs. Stafford 0
Also, Tebow has never lead a 4th quarter comeback. But that's not speaking negatively of the Greatest Player of our Era. Just some random tidbits.

I love how facts get in the way of great fiction!
That's why Stafford is a #1 pick.
Go Dawgs!
Here's a stat for 87-0. Yup that is total overall points we were behind in the 05 West Virginia game last year in Knoxville against UT lastly this years smack down by Bama! Not sure what to make of this other than when we decide to be taken behind the woodshed we certainly are not shy about it! 2 out of the 3 were benchmark games...BCS bowl...then the Bama game would certainly qualify as a seperation game! Bottom line we have to pin our ears back and handle our business when we have the national stage! Go Dawgs
But Tebow can make the always incredible jump pass....best play of all time.
FIRE WILLIE MARTINEZ NOW
nice arbitrary figure there, joe.
you win the "cpt. obvious" title for today.
Just a bye week post...Random or not we need to fix the problem sooner than later
God, I didn't mean to submit that Tebow-cross stuff. I don't even know what that means - was trying to bring in a Nick Satan joke.
These Bama fans really do think they're "God's gift to SEC football" all of a sudden. Granted, they did a number on us in Athens, I was in Birmingham, AL earlier this week on business. I had to put a couple of Bama guys in their place when they started giving me crap about the game. The conversation went something like this:
Bama Fan: Did you hear that Nick Saban was arrested yesterday?
Me: No.
Bama Fan: Yeah, they put him in jail for the beating that he gave Georgia Saturday night.
Me: Really. By the way, how many SEC championships have ya'll won during the past 5 years? None.
Me: Ok,how many times have ya'll at least made it to the SEC Championship game during the past 5 years? None.
Bama Fan: Now you're gettin' all historical on me.
Me: OK, how about if I don't back so far? I only have two words for you - Louisiana Monroe
The Bama Fans suddenly turned a lot less cocky at that point. I even wore a UGA shirt at the Birmingham airport as a sign of defiance. Hopefully, we can get back on track against Tennessee.
Sorry, no offense to anyone's religion intended. Got excited, I mean got twelve.
auburnallen, you've sorta made your way into our hearts on this blog, but, please, don't ever do the n-word thing. Not cool. I don't like Markie either, but you know better than that, we all know better than that. I just inadvertently slandered Christianity earlier. We all should take a deep breath. . .
Anon 8:33:
You're exactly right. 'Bama did indeed whoop us, but some of these fans are acting like these past 5 games make up for the past 10 years. It's ridiculous.
A message to the Bulldog Nation.

I love how this team is ahead of Georgia, we would spank these teams
Both of them are hideously overrated. Tebow because he's christian, white and can run. Stafford because he has a big arm. Neither one has ever played up to their hype levels.
In the file under unrelated category:
Two thumbs up to you sir...
Your banner picture of the trumpet player doing the beginning of the "Battle Hymn" at the top of the site is an old friend of mine.
Her name is Beth and she is an amazing trumpet player who is, yes, hot.
We were in band together in high school and she's a sweet girl who was able to get me into a UGA game one day when one of her family members couldn't make it. I remember the first day she told me she was doing the Battle Hymn solo, and I remember thinking "I finally know someone famous"...
...yeah, but it's a dry heat.
..
What?
If you really, really want to piss off an Alabama fan, ask them the last time they beat AU.
Hell it's about time Alabama fielding a respectable team. They haven't done a damn thing since 1992 - well, they won the SEC in 1999 with DuBose by cheating like the devil.
Auburnallen,
I think we are only practicing twice this week due to the amount of injuries we have and trying to get those players healthy for next weekend. It doesn't do us any good to have them get hurt even further on an off weekend.
That is just my guess though.
Is it just me, or do I actually detect a few of the talking heads beginning to reassess Tebow and finally see the chinks in his armor....
...not that Superman really needs to wear armor.
Don't get me wrong, I think Tebow is a great player. But I didn't think last year was much of a Heisman season. If you take out our running game in 05 (like the goal-line Southerland runs) and put it all on Shockley, he probably could have put up those kind of numbers too -- he just would have gotten hurt even more. And we would have lost 4 games. Just a theory anyways.
I took a run at this post on my blog. There's no comparison between Tebow and Stafford if you use relevant stats.
Stats so far this year:
Tebow: 62/102 (60.8% Comp.), 808 yards, 6TD, 0 INT, 146.74 Passer Rating; 125 Rushing Yds
Stafford: 86/144 (59.7 % Comp.), 1193 yards, 7TD, 1 INT, 143.97 Passer Rating; 33 Rushing yards.
Looks about even. Guess Stafford turned the corner and is about even with the GREATEST PLAYER EVAH!!!11!1!1
As a sidenote, I hate it when people call Tebow Superman. But I guess that makes Ole Miss Kyptonite!
The MOST important stat, though?
Head to head: Stafford 1 - Tebow 0
(soon to be 2)
Howard Smith, NCAA: Georgia Fans Should Be Commended
As I was driving from South Bend to Chicago Saturday night after attending the Notre Dame Football game, I flipped on my radio and searched around the AM channels looking for a college football game to listen to.
After a few minutes, I landed on a channel and was immediately surprised by two things - I was picking up an Atlanta station carrying the Georgia radio network and Alabama was leading the Bulldogs, 31-0, at halftime.
Yes, I was stunned that Alabama was embarrassing Georgia on its home field. I didn't see that coming at all.
But what shocked me more was the dialogue that was occurring between the Georgia announcers. They were talking about the standing ovations that the Georgia fans were giving the team as they went into and came out of the halftime locker room. According to one announcer, he had never been so proud of the Georgia fans in all his years of broadcasting Bulldogs games.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
How could the Georgia fans actually give their team that kind of positive support when they just played arguably the worst half of football in the school's history?
And then I started thinking about it. This is what college sports should be all about. Ultimately, the student-athletes are competing on the field as hard as they possibly can, and they deserve the support of the fans no matter if their team wins or loses.
Too often, fans expect perfection from the student-athletes. College sports aren't the pros. The student-athletes aren't making a living for their performance, and fans need to remember that. Student-athletes are competing foremost for the love of their sport, and as 18-22 year olds, they don't deserve the ridicule that they often receive from fans.
Apparently, the standing ovations weren't shown or talked about much on the game's national television broadcast. That's too bad because the entire country should have been able to see how classy the Georgia fans were on this night.
The Bulldogs were able to gain momentum and make it a contest in the second half. Perhaps the support the team received from the fans helped the comeback efforts.
Fans all over the country should learn from the Bulldog faithful. As long as the team is competing hard, it is the responsibility of the fans to treat their student-athletes in the same positive manner, no matter if they are winning or losing by 30 points.
Is that Beth on the banner? I've looked at it several times and could swear that it was her...
She has always done the solo proud... and that's coming from a fellow redcoat trumpet!
anon 8:33 on 10/2/08,
you and everyone else constantly tell us bama fans to stop living in the past. by bringing up ulm you are doin exactly that even if it was only a year ago its still the PAST! i also love how you only go back 5 years, why stop there? if you really want to talk history and bring up the past lets look at the entire history of both schools. it goes a little something like this
National Championships:
Alabama 12, Georgia 2
Sec Championships:
Alabama 21, Georgia 12
Bowl Appearences(Wins)
Alabama 56(32) Georgia 43(24)
Alabama vs. Georgia All Time
Alabama 36 Georgia 25 Ties 4
All Time Wins
Alabama 787 Georgia 714
The only thing you have more of us than is Heisman Trophy Winners.
But now back to the present where Alabama recently beat the living shit out of Georgia 41-30 with 2 of Georgia's scores coming with under 4 minutes to play, Alabama is #2 while Georgia is #11, and Alabama is currently in first in the West while Georgia is second in the East.
By the way we don't all of sudden think we are "God's Gift to SEC football", we've known we are for quite some time now.
And Bama fans wonder why everyone wants to rub their noses in it so much when they get beat? They go less than half a season undefeated and the cockiness rivals pre-season Gamecocks.
Guys, you can't blame Bama fans for their exuberance. They've been the single largest embarrassment of the SEC for 20 years and FINALLY, the are having a good season. All those embarrassing coaching changes, all those losses, all those other teams winning SEC's and nothing for the Tide people.
Again, if you want to piss them off, ask them when they last beat Auburn.
Aside from '92, the past 20 years for Bama is alot like the 70's and 80's were for Florida - never has a program done so little with so much but yet think they are something special.
anon 12:48
you douche bags don't have 12 national championships... that's just ridiculous.
if you actually look back at your history you'll notice about half of those claims are extremely dubious at best (including several where you got claimed "national champion" and went on to lose your bowl game), and if we're going to all start playing like that, then uga has 5 MNCs (including an undefeated season in 1946, one that we usually don't even count)
yes, you won the game, decisively. but don't come in here trying to talk shit when bama hasn't been relevent for 15 years and got beat at home by UL friggin' monroe last year.
AND, to top it off, bama hasn't accomplished a damn thing yet. Look back to 2005 when you guys were in a similar predicament and look how that one turned out.
Cheers.
LOL .... BAMA FANS.
What jokes.
They've been silent for years, they win 5 games, and all of a sudden reemerge as vocal douchebags.
Classy...just like their coach.
I want to know also, is that Beth? I don't know who Beth is, but when I saw her on the banner, I said to myself "who is that?"
I see we've deleted some comments today. Foul-mouthed Bama-fans - at least they have pretty girls, for now at least.
Ah, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan. Trust a Tech fan to chime in with something silly in a discussion among adults on big time football players.
Stafford is "hideously overrated"? Well, let's see. He's 2-0 in bowl games as a starter. He's had some significant comeback wins as a starter (VaTech 06, Florida and Auburn 07, for example). And, not that it matters so much, because Tech football is pretty much irrelevant when it comes to big time discussions, Stafford already has as many wins as a starter against Tech as ANY Tech quarterback has versus UGA since Vince Dooley moved to Athens in 1964.
True, Stafford hasnt won an SEC championship as a freshman or a sophomore. He has, however, steadily improved since taking over the starting job as a true freshman. Was Calvin Johnson "hideously overrated" because his teams never really beat anyone that was any good? Uh, no. There's a reason that Stafford is also considered a high first round NFL prospect at this stage of his career: it's called talent. For a guy playing in front of a patchwork/green O-line the last two years, he's doing pretty well.
Thanks for playing, however.
Number 2 Alabama beat UGA 41-30.
Number 78 Ole Miss, who did not even have a winning record this season, beat Florida.
Georgia was ranked ahead of Florida all last season, when Tim Tebow won the Heisman Trophy for Losing 4 of the 5 games he played against the Final AP Poll Top 25 teams.
Georgia has remained ahead of Florida all this season.
Alabama nearly took the death penalty from the NCAA, after Fulmer snitched on them.
Alabama not only has Lost every game against Auburn this entire mellennium, but in addition Alabama Lost 6 games last season, 7 Losses two years ago, 6 Losses 4 years ago, 9 Losses 5 years ago, and Alabama has Lost 46 games just starting since 2000.
46.
This is 2008.
In 8 seasons since the start of this century, Alabama has averaged Losing 6 games a season.
You beat 1 football team by 11 points, and truth be told if true frosh AJ Green had not handed you a touchdown when we were going to score a TD ourselves on that very play, you Lose by a Field Goal.
You have not done a damn thing Alabama.
While UGA has been ranked in the Final AP Polls 11 consecutive seasons in a row prior to this season, only Texas and Ohio State have 1 more win than UGA's 107 wins.
Alabama has only 74 wins and finds in fact 45 teams have done better than Alabama.
You are the single worst sports I have ever read in all my days, and I would not give you a chance in hell in a re-match at The Dome, if you can beat Auburn and LSU who are the only 2 other games on your entire remaining schedule.
Not after the way your fans have acted on the Internet since finally winning 1 damn football game.
1.
actually it was #8 Alabama at the time that beat #3 Georgia during the all so intimidating "blackout" 41-30. why do you stop at this millenium, oh because you haven't done shit outside of it.
By the way Knowshown is the biggest puss in the SEC. His injury must not have been that bad since I saw pictures of him downtown after the game celebrating the Alabama victory.
One more thing:
Julio Jones> AJ Green
because he had more receiving yards in that game and he doesn't slam his helmet like a little baby after he screws up because he doesn't screw up.
Glen Coffee now has more rushing yards this year than Knowshow Moreno on fewer carries.
You can all shut up about what happened in past years because the one thing that matters right now is Alabama beat Georgia and Alabama is back while Georgia never was anything and is still nothing after falling from #1 pre season to #11 now after getting their asses handed to them on a silver platter by the TIDE!
Anon 4:23
Dude, you really need to take some Ritalin or something.
You have GOT to get out of your mom's basement every now and then.
Oh, by the way, hope we didn't make too much noise and disturb you last night...she did get a little kinky.
'Bama fans are QUICKLY descending to the level of--dare I say it--UF fans in my book. I don't really even care about rematching with them. I just want them to lose the rest of their games so they can shut up.
hey can any of you Georgia fans tell me what it feels like to be
6-0, oh wait my bad your 4-1.
ROLL TIDE!!!
Only the MOST brilliant anons post at 4:23am! Thank you for stopping by, sir.
Even though we lost, it still puts a smile on my face knowing that you have to go back to your trailer park in Tuscaloosa to celebrate. It's amazing how one victory brings out all the Bama "fans". Do you really have nothing better to do then get on a UGA sports blog and talk trash at 4:30 in the morning? The unemployment line isn't getting any shorter buddy....
you would know about the unemployment line a-phiz, just like all other uga grads.
41-30!
