Vol Smack Talk

We uploaded this during the off season. Still pisses me off. It's Will Overstreet thrashing the Georgia Bulldogs.

At about 2:40 in he makes me wonder if we worked for Lehman Brothers earlier in the year. What an idiot!

That Tennessee stock is sitting somewhere between Washington Mutual and Freddie Mac right now. Nice pick Overstreet!

Nice Fulmer/Richt comparison! Yeah those two are reeeeeaaaaaallll comparable. Let's see the last 7 seasons prior to this one Richt has played for the SEC Title 3 times winning 2 and gone to 3 BCS Bowls winning 2. Fulmer meanwhile has played for the SEC Title twice in those seven years with zero wins and zero BCS bowl games. Practically the same exact resume.

What a moron. If picking stocks he would be broke. I hope he is not a stock broker.

Hindsight is 20/20, but, uh, yeah. Will Overstreet was clearly blinded by his homerism just a bit.

I wonder if he would trade places with Georgia at this point.

That is comical. Plus, they need to get their facts straight before running their mouths. "Florida goes through a road beater every year before Georgia"...every year, or just last year. Florida always has a bye week before our game. It's is ok though, they really make complete idiots of themselves at the end when talking about Tenn.

Obviously the bit about CMR being on the hotseat if we don't do well this year is laughable, along with the notion that "he had a couple good years a few seasons ago," but other than that he's right about us---we clearly were overrated based on our performance at SCU and the Bama beat-down, and we're not that tough overall.

CMR himself said Bama was tougher than us. The team said, after the SCU game, that SCU was just as tough (we're talking about a mediocre program at best here). Fact is, we can simply laugh about his "buying" UT for the '08 season and such...but so far he's dead-on concerning UGA this year.

We were way overrated and not that tough at all. The truth hurts sometimes.

I agree with anon 1:59 somewhat. We're not that tough & a lot of our weaknesses were exposed during the Bama game. Our lines are atrocious and Willie Martinez can't coach a tough D. We may win Saturday, but we won't cover the spread.

I like Mark Richt and don't want any other coach, but he's gonna have to do something about getting tough lines, better playcalling, and a much tougher defense. The big teams in the league on how to beat us easily. Won't be surprised if it happens on Saturday.

Overstreet just proves what we all know about the intelligence of Tennessee alum. "Calling for Richt's head..."?! Give me a break.

I can assure you, beyond any doubt, that Will Overstreet would never, ever display the skillsets necessary to work at Lehman Brothers - or any other i-banking firm for that matter. Despite the dubious end to LEH, BSC, MER, etc., these places employ(ed) some of the most talented, intelligent, honest, extremely hardworking people in this country. Don't let the actions of a few scoundrels ruin your impressions of these people. I know b/c I was one of them. Fortunately, I landed on my feet.

Overstreet might be right about Georgia being somewhat overrated. But lordy, he is way out of whack overall. First, he talked about how good the Vols would be. Yeah..uh huh. He said Auburn would be a threat..maybe but not so far. He said Auburn beat up Florida before the Cocktail Party. Excuse me??? Didn't the Tigers play the Gators about a month before Georgia did? And of course he is mixed up about who gets the bye. The last time a Gator team beat Georgia without the benefit of a bye was 1993. The last two times the Gators did not have a bye were 2004 and 2007 hmmmmm!

We weren't that tough last year when tenn beat us and when scu beat us. However, our overall record at the end of the year wasn't too shabby.

Let the season unfold before you start talking that overrated stuff. Everybody is hopping on this 'we're not that good' bandwagon pretty early in the season. It's as if some people want to be able to say, "I told you we were overrated" at the end of the year. It makes me sick.

Trust our coaches, cheer for our players, and let it go.

anon 2:57?

anon 2:16. I think CMR already has done what he needs to do in order to get a mean, nasty line. We just have to wait for them to go through puberty first and in a couple years, they will be nasty.
I was very upset after the Bama game, but go back to the message board after the UT game last year and see how upset we were and how much a season can change once a team gets some momentum. If we can win the next two, we go into the LSU/FLorida stretch with EVERYTHING left to play for.

That being said, the first quarter on Saturday may be the most important quarter of football UGA plays all year. Let UT hang around and we could be in trouble. Hit them in the jaw and drop some points on them and they will give up and we will have that emotional lift we need.

Anon 3:36 I agree with you totally! Snap out of your funk, fellow dawgs! Let's live up to our media hype as supportive fans or else they will say we fans are overrated!

Calling for the head of CMR? What is overstreet smoking.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, we'll be calling for Richt's head about the time we start wanting to hire Fulmer.

LMAO!!!!

Wonder what happend to our coaching the last half of last season. Looked pretty darn good to me. Like coach Mark Richt said, they just don't forget how to coach.

the vols are ranked Number 92 in the BCS Rankings today, and only Mississippi State Number 100 BCS Ranking, is worse in The SEC.

That Alabama game last year sure showed that Stafford couldn't play in the clutch.

Get a life.
