Confirmed: UGA vs. GT Kickoff at Noon on CBS

As we said earlier, the Georgia Bulldogs will host the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at 12:00 pm on Nov. 29th (Source: Athens Banner Herald). The game will be televised on CBS. The interesting twist for this game is the addition of Trev Alberts as the color man.

As many of you know, Trev hearts Georgia.

Steve Beuerlein used to be the color guy for the CBS double header's "lesser" game. What we lose in wildly out of context discussions of Notre Dame from Steve, we gain in quality Chick-Fil-A references and hopefully a shot at Mark May from Trev.

OMG PWD:
Is that picture of the GT stormtroopers real? Where did you find that?

My co-worker came up with a good question this afternoon and I wanted to try and get an answer for it. Do opposing teams use the "Nerds" chant against tech like the Dawg fans do? We were hoping that this was just a Georgia tradition, but if anyone knows if other teams chant this then please post.

I can't believe you're still allowing this clown to post here.

All Hail Godzilla Trev!

Also, a good friend of mine and I had a great discussion about why he doesn't call Techies "Nerds." To put it simply, he says it "implies that they're smarter than us...and they're not" which I think is spot on.

Henceforth, I'll be referring to GT Students as "Virgins."

Amen, EJ.

Sure this season hasn't turned out like we had hoped. Sure we've blown the biggest games of the year. And I'm just as upset about it as every other Georgia fan.

But is it bad to have a shot at 11-2?

This program has been building respect for the past 7 years. Having 10-win seasons with regularity is something every college football program wants, and we've got it.

And about the dancing: I'm sure all of the Georgia people in the stands at Jordan-Hare weren't upset one bit about the dancing going on.

But I'm sure Auburn fans were.

Don't be an Auburn fan.

GATA. Beat Tech.

Hobnail,

It's an Auburn fan. I'm trying to block that d-bag, but he changes his user name every few days.

It's War Willie.

I deleted his comment and all the comments responding to him. It was just easier that way.

Alright...its official.

The tailgate begins at 3 am in my apartment and continue next to Printing Services.

I planned for 9 hours of tailgating and dammit I'm gonna get it.

re: DLorberbaum
We went to the GT-NCST game a few years ago (when that was a part of that Tech half season package that included the UGA game @ Tech) and they weren't doing the Nerds cheer until we started it. But after we did, they thought it was hilarious.

I wonder if GT uses the nerds cheer when they face Duke...

Does anyone know what the most consecutive victories in the GA/GT series is...?

I know we retired Theron Sapp's jersey (#40) for snapping a Tech victory streak as well. How many had Tech won in a row before his big day?

I'm grateful for the Auburn win. Richt (after a year in the SEC) learned that every week in conference is a war. However, telling the media and our players this fact when playing a UK/weak Auburn type team may cause us to play down to our competition a bit.

We should be extremely proud to have Coach Richt at Georgia. The guy is class. He recruits well and has made us relevant. He has shown us he is ready for the big stage, like last season when we saw Pitt upset West Vagina and suddenly we were sitting there #2(in theory)...He was poised and he shocked the world (and Kirk and the boys) by his bluntness and agressive attitude. He IMMEDIATELY shifted into ole' school Bowden mode and acted like we deserved to be there.

We are Georgia. I believe we are knocking on the door of greatness. We are idiots if we act like fools and run coach Richt away from UGA (or coaching) too soon by crying. I'm guilty too.

It's time that we ALL (fans, players, coaches) get some attitude in Sanford, with our Gator co-workers, the Bama fan that won't stop talking smack, etc. NO PLAYER IS BIGGER THAN UGA. If Stafford/Knowshon bail early (who can blame them the way we act), we will still play Georgia football. Joe Cox has shown us he has heart and is a DAWG (see Celebration photo). Aaron Murray is Tom Cruise. Washan Ealey has broken some of Herschel's records. AJ IS BACK!

Let's all take a step back. Appreciate being a Bulldog. Stop worrying about the past and focus on the Bees. Win a Citrus rematch with Ohio State, sign another top 5 class, and STEP UP IN '09!

See you in Stillwater.

Just as inept as the stormtroopers too.....

The record in the series is 8 in a row by Tech.

Let's be real for a minute. If Stafford or Moreno go pro, it won't be because of the fans.

It'll be because they think it's the most financially prudent thing to do for them.

They are big boys. They know that everyone has some d-bag fans.

Clemson '91...Let's hit I-40 right now to start tailgating in Stillwater. We are a beast. Richt has made us so. We do need to appreciate it, and keep ramping it up. Our recruiting has continually gotten better under Richt, it will continue to do so. We're playing at a level where the margin is very slim. This year we were on the underside of that. We're worried sick about trends, but every team has them. Ohio St. can't beat speed and wets the bed on National TV. USC sleepwalks through a Pac-10 road loss every year. OU implodes in BCS games. Fla. loses one it ain't supposed to every year (usually to a Western Div. opponent). Good Lord, every team has something in the way of them and the pursuit of perfection. At least we're in the hunt instead of trying to be relevant. I'm grateful for that.

@ dlorberbaum,

At least we are not redneck, jorts wearing, crying about our season, drunken, jock-sniffing, UGAY fans!

Anonymous said...

Sugardaddy, What hunt are you still in?

Anonymous said...

the longest streak in the series is eight, and its held by Tech

clemson '91:

What exactly are you insinuating here?

"Aaron Murray is Tom Cruise."

Anonymous said...

We are in the hunt every year for those big prizes. That's what I'm talking about and that's really all you can ask. How many teams can say that? How many teams even dream of it? We're in the hunt for 10 and 11 wins, something only a few teams will accomplish. We're in the hunt to win a New Year's Day bowl game. Something even fewer will accomplish. And in August '09, we'll be in the hunt for the whole deal because that's where our program is at. That means not making it is disappointing, and that's a good thing. We just don't need to be maniacal, for goodness sakes. Something wasn't terribly wrong with the Florida program last year because they went to the Capitol One Bowl. They just got beat by better teams along the way. We are not better than Florida and Bama this year. Let's keep plugging, fix what needs fixing, as PWD says, and be better than everyone next year.

Regarding Staff and Shon, neither are BIG Georgia fans. I've heard them both say that the UF game is "just another game". They don't care about UGA like David Greene and Pollack. It's a fact. Why come back if you really don't care if UGA wins the SEC or BCS Championship. Then when fans start calling you out for pulling yourself out of games or making throws off your back foot, etc...you finally say screw it.

I love that we recruit nationally now. It's the ONLY way to compete with the big boys. But having someone leading the team that bleeds Red and Black is more important than having a highlight reel, pro-type player.

UGA needs a leader who is (1)Christian, (2)A born Dawg, (3)A team over me type personality.

Bleed Red and Black or get off our Sanford grass.

What does "worth damn" mean?

"UGA needs a leader who is (1)Christian"

Yes, because Jesus was such a great football player and the current Christian coach's moral compass keeps the team out of jail.
