AJC: Richt says Searels is Staying

There is no off season news more important to the UGA program. The AJC is reporting that Richt says Searels told him he's staying. This was done before the bowl practice today.

The ABH has their article up as well. Not sure who was first. Not sure I care. Just happy that it's out there.

With all the comments over the past months regarding potential coaching changes on the Dawg staff, this is a move that we as Dawg fans can all agree on. Merry Christmas indeed. Glad your sticking around, Coach Searels!

This is a great Christmas present for the Dawg Nation. Just want to say thanks to CSS for staying. Now if we could get two certain players to stay, this Christmas would be complete and also win our bowl game.

Is Willie's boost coming from Paul Johnson?

David,

Thanks for the clarification. It's tough when the AJC doesn't time stamp their articles.

Although, I shouldn't talk about time stamping. Time stamps mean nothing on my own site.

Now that we have the best o-line coach in the country, when can we get a new d-back coach and defensive coordinator because the one we have stinks! Isn't there a job in the NFL that Martinez can take? What about shipping him to East Carolina like we did for Bill "I never met a blitz I didn't like" Lewis?

(yes, I am old enough to have been there, with the band, in the 1982 Sugar Bowl when Lewis called a blitz against Dan Marino. Yes, Marino burnt us by throwing to one if their gazelle wide receivers in single coverage--and I will NEVER forgive him for that!)

Perhaps Searels can coach the D as well. Lord knows the guy we have isn't cut out for the job.

Yea!

I believe the pass completion was to the tight end covered man to man by a 5-9 safety.

It was one of the few times UGA blitzed in that game.

I was there too, in the stands.

All this love for a line coach! I remember when no one ever knew the assistant coachs' names.

Glad he is staying and good to see he got a raise. Leverage!
