Jamarkus McFarland is a 5 star defensive tackle out of Texas. Yesterday, he committed to the Sooners, and ended a nasty Oklahoma vs. Texas recruiting war.
Much like you, I really don't care who OU or Texas signs. However, the story is made universally interesting to recruiting buffs because the NY Times followed the process inside and out for six months with inside access from McFarland and his mother.
The NY Times story involves stretch limos, bare breasted Longhorn fans, drugs, booze, financial offers, and maids. Basically, it's everything fun about recruiting for the kids and every parent's nightmare.
It's solid read that is getting press all over the country.

Just like "Johnny Be Good".
i don't know about anyone else, but i'm a fan of girls taking their clothes off...
I would empty my banking account for a chronicle of Tebow disdainfully attending Roman recruiting orgies back when he was a home-schooled high school senior.
Earlier today I was joking with one of my Bama buddies that LSU must throw the Golden Girls at recruits to get them to attend that stink hole ... I guess I was pretty close to the truth.
Seems like his mom woulda loved CMR... should have sent him an offer. Honestly, I wish we'd try to cast a wider net and try to reel in a few high profile recruits west of the Mississippi a little more often (Stafford recruited himself... he always wanted to play here and beyond Ward, we haven't brought in too many from out there).
Perhaps seeing Florida coeds without their clothes on is why Tebow remained so committed to a pre-marital life of celibacy.
