Georgia lost to Missouri in Hoops

Missouri beat Georgia 83-76 on Saturday. Chip Towers nails the story line perfectly in this one saying, "Missouri had better athletes and more of them and that was the difference." Yep. That's pretty much it.

This wasn't about Felton's offensive or defensive scheme. It was about Missouri having players who could give full court pressure for 40 minutes and play intelligent defense when we got into the half court set.

Good players commit fewer turnovers than bad players. And freshman commit fewer more turnovers than veterans. The bill for our recruiting and attrition simply came due. Thus, our 23 turnovers became 30 Missouri points.

However, all the news isn't bad. The SEC appears to be very down this year. Missouri (12-2) would fare favorably to the better SEC teams not named Tennessee. Going forward, we won't face many teams that can expose our offensive problems as easily as Missouri did.

When Woodbury is healthy, we can play fairly even at home with the bottom half of the SEC. We will do especially well when he's healthy and shooting like he was Saturday (27 points).

I like our chances against Tech on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm. I'd like our chances more if Woodbury or Trey would touch the ball on EVERY possession.

Tickets for the GT game are available via RamblingWreck.com for $30 each.

We seem to be due for another long season. Not to discredit what Mizzou did, but our boys just don't have what it takes to bail out Felton again. Witnessing Arkansas and South Carolina with coaches in their 2nd and 1st year respectively get enormous wins over Oklahoma and Baylor dampers my confidence for the UGA hoops program. I hope Felton can turn it around in SEC play but that is wishful thinking.

PWD,

"And freshman commit fewer turnovers than veterans."

I think you got your words mixed up.

I was unaware that our aspirations entail "bottom-half SEC dweller".

Anyone that thinks we're still suffering from Harrick is a fool.

I've said for 20 years that UGA could field a superlative team by recruiting players exclusively from Albany, Macon, and Atlanta.

A sincere thanks to Dennis Felton but it's time to begin the search for a new coach.

Well, I personally thought we played a great game against a formidable foe. And most impressively, we refused to quit in the second half. Go Dawgs!

Freshmen commit fewer turnovers than veterans? Really?

Agree with Anon 8:36. I watched the game and while there were way too many turnovers, that's also what Missouri is known for. The dawgs led for most of the game, and didn't get down until Mizzou got hot from behind the 3 point line. Considering the Dawgs were just getting 2 players back from injuries, I was very impressed with how they played against a seen to b top 25-team. However, I do agree UGA deserves a better team, and is sitting in the middle of a prime recruiting location. I will be very interested to see how the rest of the season develops

Until Felton is gone, count me out.

Hopefully only a few more games until felton is gone!

i honestly didnt know we had a guy like trey. he is awesome. but we would have EASILY won this game without the turnovers. idk much about basketball so im not gonna call for felton's head, but i wont be disappointed if he is fired. however, i still think we are slowly... very slowly, getting better.

How bout that guy that coaches the Washington Generals? You think he'd consider the college ranks? :)

I kid! I kid!

I equate coverage of UGA basketball on this site to ESPN's coverage of the WNBA on Sportscenter. There is an obligation to at least mention the story, but no one really watches or cares...

I care.
