Freshman QBs talked to the media

Aaron Murray and Zach Mettenberger were made available to reporters this week for interviews. The most interesting quote comes from Zach:
“Last year I was around a lot and the leadership wasn’t too great last year,” Mettenberger said. “I’ve been here three weeks and I already can tell that the leadership and the seniors, they are trying to win a championship again. They want to win an SEC championship. They want a spot to play in the national title. So far the leadership has been outstanding in my opinion.”
I've been saying it for weeks. Get healthy. Develop leaders. Raise expectations. If Richt does those three things, most of the rest of the issues sort themselves out. On that front, the tone coming from the off season workouts continues to be encouraging (Hale).

Stafford just got pwned.

It wasn't just Stafford...it was every Sr and Jr on the team. They need to step up and grow some balls.

Hmmm, not too sure that a high school kid should be talking to the media about "leadership" right now. His time will come, and everyone knows that we had no leadership last year, only guys looking to get paid. Mett needs to keep his head down and be quiet until he has paid some dues.

Zach is not a high school kid. He is a college kid.

Looks like a case of what a lot of people suspected . . . addition by subtraction.

zm is not just any wet-behind-the-ears recruit fresh out of high school. he's got closer ties to the program than most. if any new guy can speak with authority about what's going on, it's zm. frankly, the easy-come, easy-go rhetoric out of uga football was so bothersome last year, i'm happy to read comments like these from anyone. if the other players have a problem with them, i'll suspect they'll let zach know. from a fan's perspective, i think it's great.

anyway, his comments also mean high praise for guys like joe cox right now.

Anon @ 4:37 nailed it.

Baltimore, I agree completely. All that "practice was great, the team is great, everything's awesome" talk really got on my nerves last year because anyone with a brain could see that things weren't alright at times. I'm glad he's not trying to sugarcoat anything.

I think Cox may be showing a lot of leadership in this matter. The kid was nothing but a winner in high school.

Here we go again...throwing some throwing Stafford under the bus.

Could everyone please get off of Stafford. Last year wasn't his fault. When Tebow won the Heismann Urban Meyer called that team the most selfish team he has ever coached. I don't think that had anything to do with Tebow not being a good leader, they just needed to get more mature as ateam. It took getting crushed by us and losing to Michigan in the bowl game to do that. I think that our team is going to be much more motivated next year because of our embarrasing losses this year, not because Stafford is gone and he was such an awful leader...

Who's throwing Stafford under the bus?

I feel bad for the bus. Stafford is a big dude.

Mett interviews Murray

Some creeper interviews Mett

Am I the only one who thinks that Mettenberger is going to be better than Murray?

And just watched the creeper interview with Mett.... holy crap, what's up with the cameraman? And I've heard of getting cozy during an interview, but seems Zach took laid-back to another level. I was uncomfortable watching that within 30 seconds.

Still my boy, kids got an absolute cannon.
