Go Gamecocks?
The State, South Carolina's largest newspaper, salutes the Gamecocks. If the measuring stick is "Didn't Fail Totally," they win.
They'll probably frame this for the SC Athletic Office and place it right next to the 45 Pre-Season National Champions Trophies. I wonder if the Athletic Director gets a ring for this that says .500 on it?

Paul Johnson can tell them who to call to get their commemorative non-championship "Season of Adequacy" rings.
That's fake, right? Photoshop? Really?
They really did this??
Whoo hoo! Striving for the pursuit of mediocrity.
Dude. Just....dude.
I cannot believe that we let them into our conference. They are an absolute joke, athletically and academically.
Vandy needed somebody to beat up on.
compare that to the hated Gators that won the NC in the two primary sports.
This has to be a joke.
wow...guess you have to start somewhere. How many other schools have done this? Is it really that much of an achievement? When was the last time we did it? How many times have we done it? Cant stand the birds, but it might not be as pathetic as we think.
Anon 1:50:
UGA has done this eight times since South Carolina joined the SEC.

1994-95
2000-01
2001-02
2002-03
2003-04
2005-06
2007-08
By comparison, this was also Vanderbilt's first year accomplishing this feat since the 1992-93 season, so the Cocks are in great company.
Guess that really was a "We didnt completely suck" award. Guess you have to start somewhere.
Definitely sounds like something Tech would do.
I'm not gonna laugh too loudly. We didn't do it this year.
But even if we did, we sure as hell wouldn't get an award for it.
Uhh, you certainly did not do it in 2002-2003.

It's a phys-ed class you dimwit. Every university has them. Jim Harrick and Jim Junyah were/are scum and Georgia paid the price and then some. But the "university is a joke" comment is lame.
If UGA is such a joke, why are you reading a Georgia Blog, particularly on a day when nothing of substance is happening. And if you're going to come piss in somebody's conversation. Why don't you at least identify your allegiance, be it Gator Gary or Rockytop Rick, have some balls.
And compare that with Linda Bensel Myers, Auburn's sociology class, Joe Hamilton and Stephon Marbury, among other academic scandals at our rivals.
Please anon, let us know you're allegiances so we can be aware of the true hypocritical aspect of your post. Because unless you claim Vandy, you're pretty much named a pot calling out a kettle.
"This is the first time the feat has been achieved..."
Feat(n): a noteworthy or extraordinary act or achievement, usually displaying boldness, skill, etc.
Referring to this "accomplishment" as (a) noteworthy, (b) extraordinary, and/or (c) a display of boldness or skill is an affront to excellence.
"I will not be a Gamecock!"

Yes, we did do it in 2002-2003. I was at the majority of those games. I saw us win. I don't care what the NCAA tries to tell us due to an easy PE class and a $300 phone bill, we won them.
I'm pretty sure Georgia Tech still claims the 1998-2000 football games and Florida still claims "First in the SEC" on their stadium wall.
God forbid someone classify our university as "a joke" based on a phys ed exam given 7 years ago by two clowns who were in charge of our most down athletic program. Is Jan Kemp the punchline?
Fescue: We can only surmise that the Cock nation perceives this as a feet (sic).
They also taught Michael Phelps how to swim the 420...
1) lol @ Dawg19.
2) Why does it matter what my allegiance is? Any time anybody posts on here negative about UGA that is all you want to know, just so you can have some ammo against that person (presumably because your own sorry institution can't stand on its face).
How about this - I'm a graduate of a top 5 undergrad school with a graduate degree at a top 10 school, I used to live in Gainesville as a child so I'm a big Gator football fan, even though I don't like the school itself, but then I also spent some time in Pasadena so I also love USC-West. I went to high school in the research triangle area so I'm a huge UNC basketball fan.
3) All you bull puppies out there defending that piece of crap exam as being merely a "phys ed" exam - post another phys ed exam from another school that is equally laughable. You can't, because you won't be able to find one.
Anon 6:37pm
Wow, are we supposed to be impressed? You paid someone money and they in turn taught you something, that's incredible. You are so special, because not just anyone can do that, oh wait, yes they can. You are a typical internet douchebag. Plain and simple. I guess joke schools get 2 Rhodes Scholars all the time, right? Using your very flawed logic, let's argue something that happened years ago. You cling to this like it's your shining sword of truth and it's such a pathetic thing to cling to. Big Internet Tough Guy, a dime a dozen.
If I had to venture a guess, you are a very weak person in life, very quiet, keep to yourself, if run over and killed nobody would notice for days type of guy. Put you behind a keyboard though, and BAM, you are Capt. Billy Badass. It's just so typical. So you keep fighting the only fight in life that you can, on the interwebs....
And I'm shocked that your list of Teams you like are all recent NC winners. Nothing like a grad ole bandwagon douchebag. Let me guess, you love the Red Sox - i mean Phillies, Steelers, Celtics - well until a few weeks ago when they lost.
I tell you what I will not find...
another state newspaper celebrating a .500 record for their state school.
Anon 7:04
Sounds like a sign of the times to me. When readership's down in the dumps, a newspaper really will do anything to sell papers
"I'm a graduate of atop 5 undergrad school with a graduate degree at a top 10 school"
Glad to know those degrees got you a kick-ass job that offers you all the thrills and excitement of trolling UGA websites to rile the masses. I'm a student, and I'm glad you brought this kind of fate to my attention. Now I am 100% positive I will never leave school and become THAT bored with my life
It's still Great to be a Georgia Bulldawg!!!
Them lizards can win ten MNCs and they will still feel inferior. Tom Petty, Gatorade, Shands and 3 MNCs and 2 Basketball championships and they still have a complex about Georgia. Perfectly understandable. Perhaps these anons should form a support group and get some funding from Acorn.
So, we've established that our anonymous poster is about the biggest front running sidewalk alum out there. Congratulations! Let me guess: Yankees, Lakers and Patriots fan too? Yaaaay!
Damn, missed mant's comment. Beat me to it.
"I'm a graduate of a top 5 undergrad school with a graduate degree at a top 10 school"
Devry is a top 5 undergrad school?
It amazes me how dumb all of you actually are.
I'd like to thank mant, ty durden, and ssb charley for actually believing what I typed. It just proved my point that no matter what I typed you all would try to use that to make fun of me. I'm actually a die hard bulldog fan writing a psych paper on how die hard football fans are incredibly gullible.
I'd also like to especially thank mant for his sense of comic genius and irony. Amazingly enough, he accuses me of being a "typical internet douchebag" and "Big Internet Tough Guy" yet, ironically, is also guilty of the same by claiming that I am "a very weak person in life, very quiet, [that I] keep to [my]self, [and] if r[a]n over and killed nobody would notice for days. . . ." Unlike me though, you must also be a "Billy Badass" in real life.
On a side note, your first paragraph still makes absolutely no sense. A) assuming I did go to said schools, I would still have to get into them, which not everyone can do; B) who said that I paid my way through - could have received a full ride (they do give those for things other than football); C) For the life of me I can't understand where you are going with this passage:
"I guess joke schools get 2 Rhodes Scholars all the time, right? Using your very flawed logic, let's argue something that happened years ago. You cling to this like it's your shining sword of truth and it's such a pathetic thing to cling to."
Am I supposed to be impressed that UGA has two Rhode scholars this year? Or instead should I laugh at the fact that you've had a mere 8 in the last 70 years? At an approximation of 25 US students over that time period (which is probably conservative) that makes 1750 US students over that time period. Having 8 (less than half a percent) of them isn't something to boast about.
Additionally, I'm trying to figure out what logic you are claiming is flawed. Not that I disagree - sometimes my logic is flawed - but you aren't very specific. Are you saying that it's a flaw in logic to link something that happened to a school 5-6 years ago with how the school is currently viewed?
Last, what is the "pathetic" "shining sword of truth" that I cling to? That there was once a three credit class at your esteemed university that only someone who was literally mentally retarded would fail? 5/28 1:22 PM anon said that USC-East is "an absolute joke, athletically and academically." At least they've never offered a test as easy as the one I posted above.
Again, I'm still waiting for someone to post another test that is as big of a joke as the one Harrick Jr. gave. You won't be able to, because such a test does not exist.
"I'm a graduate of a top 5 undergrad school with a graduate degree at a top 10 school"
Also is a Level 40 Elfmage who spends his time away from World of Warcraft trolling blogs and writing lengthy responses in the comment section.
Based on the similarity of comments and writing/attacking style, I think anon 11:16 is the same person who a few weeks ago claimed to be an "Oregon State" fan. Then I explained after the similar "why does it matter" post that it matters as a point of principle, that if you unsolicitedly lob aggressive insults at a homer audience you are almost always going to be a rival fan- because that is the posture you've taken, as non-rival fans don't generally bother with this stuff. (They are busy bothering their own rivals.) And that means that you are not an unbiased observer, but instead an impassioned, fully biased commenter in the middle of the fray whose perceptions are wholly informed by your fandom--just as ours are. Your pretense to some kind of impartial "you're just fools" rhetoric is just a sham, and identifying who you are a fan of would confirm that beyond a doubt.
Ultimately, though, anon 11:16 amuses me by his penchant for baiting posters on rival blogs. What sort of person does this? Who has so much time that they bother reading the blogs of rival teams, much less starting fights with random fans? What is the value in starting arbitrary name-calling fights? I don't get it. Why is this important to you, anon 11:16? Please try to be objective in your response rather than immature and aggressive (per your usual approach).
Thanks for your critique of our 2002-03 basketball team, however. We hadn't noticed about that, and your thoughts are insightful and will be put to good use by everyone here.
+1 Fescue: "an affront to excellence"
Anon, wherever your allegiances lie:
First, don't claim to be a die-hard UGA fan when you refer to the University of Georgia as 'your' school.
Second, if you want to pretend, as a Florida fan or for whomever you my cheer that football began in 1990, then UGA is doing pretty well in terms of Rhodes Scholars, considering that UF has a grand total of 12, ever. UGA has half that since the mythical beginning of football in 1990. Not to mention the plethora of Gates, Goldwater, Truman, Udall, and Mitchell scholars who have represented UGA in that time.
Psychological study? Really? Well done, bravo! You've demonstrated that you're successfully biased in your formulation of outcome, thereby ruining any valid conclusion you could possibly render. Not to mention the fact that were you performing your research at a 'top 10' graduate program, you would not presume to provide a blog as a piece of scholarly evidence, but as a means of polemic memory. Where to next? the University of Michigan blog to discuss Rich Rodriguez?
Finally, to presume that NO other college has a test that was as ludicrous as JH, Jr.'s test is, as any top 5 undergraduate education would reveal, a logical fallacy. If you haven't drawn the logical conclusion that any tests written before JH, Jr's haven't been summarily removed from record or that any written pre post facto (that's Latin to go w/ your Harvard, Princeton, Yale, MIT, or Stanford education) are ones that have been well purged from any archives of higher education, you are well more moronic than your suggested education attempts to present.
In conclusion, bugger off, anon. Go bug another thread
GO DAWGS!!
Love, a real UGA fan & alum.

(Can't believe I'm still entertaining your responses but when in Rome...)
Read back your comments, analyze the tone and voice through which you are addressing the rest of us, and then grade yourself based on the PCL-R checklist (if you truly are a Psych student you'll know exactly what I'm talking about). You sir sound about as glib, egocentric, and self promoting as they come.
Since we're feeding trolls...
Gullibility implies some reason that you shouldn't believe what someone else is saying. Note that when Anon made the initial claim that he graduated from a Top X school, everyone took it at face value (except for a fellow anon) but he was still attacked over mentioning it. There was no reason to doubt it. Once that same anon changed his story and claimed to be a psych student working on a psych project while obviously having no idea how to do said project, people stopped believing him. That's not gullibility. Taking a supposition at face value as long as it is reasonable and there is no evidence to the contrary is rational thinking.
I'm still trying to figure out what the crazy exam has to do with the Athletic Excellence at South Carolina.
I hate the gamecocks if we cant beat them in 09, we need to cancel the rest of the season. But i see uga winning another close game over the chickens i dont understand why we cant put this team away.
You guys barely beat the Gamecocks this year! Wow! How sad are you? Apparently, none of you have anything better to do than talk trash about a fellow SEC team! Geez guys! No wonder people hate when your team comes to their town! Nothing but a bunch of rude assholes! Have a great day!
"talk trash about a fellow SEC team!". Typical bottom feeder logic being spewed by a probable Coot!
