UGA vs. Arizona State Kickoff Time Confirmed

The Georgia Bulldogs will face the Arizona State Sun Devils at 7:00 pm on ESPNU. It will be Georgia's first appearance on ESPNU. (For tickets check here)

Comcast subscribers in my area (North Atlanta) should have ESPNU and ESPNU HD without buying a "sports tier" package. I have no idea how the rest of the cable providers get the game.

SEC Football TV Selections for 9/26:
SEC Network: 12:21 p.m. ET LSU at Miss. State

CBS 3:30 p.m. ET Arkansas at Alabama

Paul,

All att uverse subscribers with U100 or better should have ESPNU in their channel guide. Further, anyone with the HD option will have ESPNU HD as well.

North Atlanta Comcast subscriber here...

I had digital start up until this past Saturday and it did not provide ESPN U.

Anyone else w/that package will have to make a change if they want to see the game on TV.

Hobnail_Boot said...

Uh yeah, my North Atlanta comcast doesn't have ESPNU.

PTC DAWG said...

Check ch 298 for EspnU..the SD version..not all the upgrades are done all over town for EspnuHD. All info is for Comcast.

Ugh, I don't get ESPNU. Hell I don't know one person that gets it. Why put the gam on a channel that the majority of people do not get? Fuck, put us on Peachtree at 12:30.

Anonymous said...

And word on the game this weekend..which network are we on? ESPN or the deuce?

Trey said...

ESPN this weekend at 7:45.

Hey guys - if you don't get ESPNU I am almost positive that you can pick it up on ESPN360.com. There have been many times where I have watched a game on my computer, and it is just like watching it on TV. Also, you can go to some place like Radio Shack and they can give you chords to where you can hook up your laptop to your TV. The chords will cost you about $15.

Watching the game on ESPN360.com + hooking up your computer to the TV = Watcing the game on TV.

That is really not that bad of an alternative.

This is funny. Charter in Athens doesn't carry ESPNU. So I live in town and can't watch the game. Un-freakin'-believable.

Comcast'd

Charter'd

God, I love my AT&T U-verse!

Anonymous said...

Any thoughts on what time the LSU game the following week will be at? I was hoping it'd be at night, but I don't see Michael Adams going for a 3rd one...

the anonymous suckup said...

I get ESPNU on DirecTV, but it is in standard definition. Oh well...I guess I should be grateful to have it at all...

Carlton said...

What if we're Dish subscribers? What's the option there?

scull said...

Charter eats dong.

They have the u on their sports tier package. Their sports tier sucks.

PTC DAWG said...

A quick google of DishNetwork and Espnu says ch 148 is your option..

How hard is this to some folks?

Anonymous said...

I get ESPNU on Dish. Maybe I'll stay home.

Not sure that I want to fight another traffic brawl to get home.

45-minutes to get out of a parking deck and 90 minutes to get out of town is ridiculous.

The 31st Floor said...

I'm in South Buckhead off Collier and get ESPNU on my Comcast Digital HD Starter package on 298.

Still don't ESPNUHD yet though

"45-minutes to get out of a parking deck and 90 minutes to get out of town is ridiculous."

First game?

Honestly, what did you expect?

Anonymous said...

I'm guessing the LSU game will be at 3:30 with CBS having their pick. I don't see Kentucky beating Florida to push their matchup with Bama to 3:30 or Auburn beating WV and UTk beating UF to push that one to 3:30 either.

Oh well, it'll still be a fun day.

@William

I have Charter in Athens and ESPNU IS offered. It's channel 310.

All you have to do is order the Sports View Package which costs $5 a month and that includes ESPNU. (along with other sports channels, including 3 Fox Sports Channels that also show college football games on saturdays.)

Heck you can even order it for one day and cancel it the next day if you want. ESPNU is showing lots of SEC games this season so i'm keeping the sports package, it's worth it for only $5.

Oh and btw, games that are shown LIVE on ESPNU are NOT shown live on ESPN360.com from what I've seen so far this season. ESPN360 offers a replay of the ESPNU game, presumably so that it doesn't hurt the channel's ratings.

Hope this helps.

@Rick

While that's good info, you may not know how constrained Georgia graduate student income is. I make less than someone drawing unemployment does. People who volunteer with Ameri-Corps make more money than I do. $5 is a meal I can't afford to skip :( Guess it's a bar for me to see the game.

Rick said...

@William

I understand that completely. I'm also a college student so I know how it can be.

However, if you order the sports view package on Saturday morning and cancel it on Sunday then you're only paying for one day's worth of the package. (Remember you can cancel any channel at any time with Charter.)
$5 divided by 31 is about 16 cents on your bill.

This is just another option in case you want to consider it. Good luck, I hope you get to watch the game!

Rick said...

Oh and btw I forgot to mention that ordering the channel for one day can seem to some like the wrong thing to do, but this is Georgia football for crying out loud!

Anyway, I was just trying to help people out.

Russ Fortson said...

Who are the announcers on ESPNFU? Please tell me we haven't sunk to the Pam Ward level yet!

Sam said...

Wow, how spoiled people have become.

(Old man clearing throat and pulling up pants): I remember when there was one game on and it was on Saturday and the picture was not very good.

Sam said...

Brock Huard should be one of the announcers. I think he is the prime time ESPNU guy. Not sure who he is paired with though.

PTC DAWG said...

Unless you sit at a bar and drink free water, you'll spend a lot more than Five Bucks...or 16 Cents as someone pointed out.

Anonymous said...

The wrong thing to do? If it involves screwing over a cable company, it's never the wrong thing to do.

Rick said...

Well, I've never had any problems with Charter. :P

I was looking at ESPN's Week 3 TV listings and I didn't see the UGA/Arkansas game in their lineup. I thought it was supposed to be on ESPN. Can anyone verify this?

ky_dawg said...

Dang it. I have ESPNU on DirecTv, but it's in NTSC. Football in NTSC isn't the same after you have seen it in HDTV.

Unknown said...

Ugh. ESPNU had to happen to me at some point I guess. I'm a DishNetwork'er in MO who has regularly plunked down the $100 for the gameplan to catch all the Dawgs games. The fact that ESPN sticks this on some crappy backwater channel in their family and snubs GP subscribers irritates me to no end. I can get ESPNU on dishnetwork but I have to "upgrade" my $40/mo plan to the $63/mo plan for the "privilege". And there's a "service fee" for downgrading...

RedCrake said...

William-

Are you a UGA grad student? If so just head over to Tate 2. It'll be on the big screen.

Unknown said...

Anybody see a bike cop beat up a guy in one of the church parking lots after the game saturday? Total police brutality. Please let me know if you have heard about it. Jhgordon1@hotmail. Com

Will said...

It does feel ethically wrong to jip Charter, even thought they're douches. Tate II sounds like a good option, though. That's free!

Scott said...

Those of us who live in the Maryland 'burbs of DC who have Comcast gets ESPNU. Comcast customers in any area can login to ESPN360.com for no cost since Comcast is the sponsor of ESPN360.com!

Paul said...

People still have cable? I'm on DirecTV and I don't miss cable one bit.

Now, when we end up on CSS I'll be screwed, but that's why I have season tickets, right?

Anonymous said...

@Gen. Stoopnagle

DirecTV's customer service reps are incompetent and their policies are unethical.

As soon as my contract was up, I didn't renew and I've never looked back.

Sure all the nice shiny channels are fine and all but jeez, I had way too many bad experiences with them.

But don't take my word for it, read the consumer reviews.

And btw, we all care so much that you can afford to piss money away on DirecTV, and that you have season tickets. Good for you.

@ Anon 10:31

While the details of who provides Gen. Stoopnagle's telivision signal might not be the most riveting prose I've ever read, let me say this. Those details are much more interesting than your judgement of DirecTV's ethics and your righteous indignation over the good General's spending habits.

Really...just exactly what did he say that warranted your response? And precisely why, in your opinion, is your response so much more worthy of blog space than his comment?

the anonymous suckup said...

Oops. I meant "television". I really should proofread this stuff...

Paul said...

Well, anon 10:31, I've never had a problem the few times I've had to call. I'm sorry your experience wasn't the best. Mine has been far superior to what it was with Charter in Athens.

Paul said...

Oh, and did some one say cookies? YES PLEASE!

dawgnotdog said...

And see General, I have never had a problem with Charter in Athens that wasn't solved incredibly rapidly.

And there have been very few of those.

Anonymous said...

@Gen. Stoopnagle

You want the cookie? I knew it: Fatty.

@Anon Suckup

If you can't pick up the condescending tone in his post then you're a moron and you don't deserve it being explained to you.

And to use your own logic, how does your scolding of me have any place in this blog?

Really...just exactly what did I say that warranted your response? And precisely why, in your opinion, is your response so much more worthy of blog space than my comment?

Sounds stupid when you read it, doesn't it?

the anonymous suckup said...

Anon 4:26

Based on your earlier insight, I had every reason to expect that sort of response. I was right, of course, but I won't take the bait.

However, I will note that you never answered my questions. So I'll politely ask them again. Really...just exactly what did the General say that warranted your response? And precisely why, in your opinion, is your response so much more worthy of blog space than his comment?

If you are capable of giving me a thoughtful response to those questions without tossing in your typical name-calling, then I'll be happy to answer those questions as they apply to me. So what do you say? Do you have any thoughtful answers? Just so you know, a snotty answer (or no answer at all) will be considered an admission on your part that you have no reasonable answers - which is what I wholeheartedly expect. You have the opportunity to be unpredictable here. Are you able?

Anonymous suckup:

You sound pompous. Sure the way he presented his argument may not have been up to your standards, but that's no reason to flame the guy.

And really, he does have a point. I read Gen. Stoopnagle's and it does sound like he's bragging about his DirecTV and season tickets, as well as putting down those with cable. "People still have cable?"

I found his comment far more offensive than Anon's critique of it.

It seems like you're just trying to start an argument. Here's a tip, get over it and move on. It looks like Anon 10:31 already has.

the anonymous suckup said...

Rick:

First off, let me say this unequivocally: You are right. My posts (and I) were pompous. And while I’m certainly not going to repudiate anything I said, I must admit that this forum is not the appropriate place to say those things. I’m at least twice as old as most blog commenters, and I expect a little different level of discourse. But nobody wants to have to wade through my little pissing match with Mr. Anonymous. So, even if he comes back with something outrageous, I’ll try my best to accept your tip and move on.

Having said that, I do want to take issue with your characterization of my comments. I didn’t flame him. I’ve never flamed anyone on any blog. While I’ve certainly demonstrated an ability to be pompous, I’ve never called anyone a name on this blog or any other. Nor have I ever stooped to the typical lazy insulting adjectives that appear all too often in blog comments. I never called him “a moron”, or “stupid”, or “fatty”, or even “pompous”, for that matter. So “here’s a tip” for you: It is entirely possible to disagree with (or even disapprove of) someone without flaming them, and that is precisely what I did.

To all others who waded through this, I apologize. I’m done. The next time you read anything from me, it will be related to the topic at hand. Go Dawgs!

Rick said...

You once again prove your inability to let things go. I'll say it again, MOVE ON. Don't create a post saying you will, just do it.

This is me leaving...

Based on usage stats, no one is still reading this thread but about 4 people. You guys are really wasting your time.

Does anyone remember the UGA game on ESPNU that didn't come in on DirecTV if you were in Atlanta last year? I think the problem then was comcast & charter bought PPV rights to the game.

Anonymous said...

ESPN360 does not show the Arizona State game on upcomming games. If you cannot get the game try atdhe.net or Ustream or rajangan.net. Ther are very few televised events that are not streamed.

Anonymous said...

I wish we could watch this game in Gainesville, GA.

It's funny that a public institution can give rights to a non-"air TV" channel. You would think they should have to broadcast on free TV in the state.
