A Couple of Things

Judging by the comments on my last post, very few of you will read this so I'll be brief.  On offense, we are a play action passing team that can't run.  That's as simple as I can put it.  Monte played a lot of zone defense to take away the deep throw to A.J.  We couldn't do anything else to spark a real threat of offense without that route.  That's because we don't do anything else competently, except punt.

On defense, we can game plan, but find it impossible to react to what the other guy is doing.  If I was playing Tennessee, the plan would be to focus on Hardesty and the Vol running game.  Let Crompton beat you.  Our defense was so intent on that objective, Kiffy & Co. wisely ran play action to loosen it up.  The problem is we reacted like we had never see a play action bootleg and never adjusted through three quarters.

I can't recall a more devastating loss since Richt took over.  The UF loss was bad last year, but UF went on to win the national title.  Tennessee lost to UCLA in Knoxville.  Some people think a giant catfish would be more effective as a quarterback than the guy we just handed the SEC Offensive Player of the Week award.  Tennessee isn't very good and they just beat the piss out of the Dawgs.

No one is without blame.

100% accurate! Over the top on your assesment! It's like a bad dream and we are trapped in this time warp that has us in the Ray Goof era? We need to drop 50 on the Dores, rest up then lay our normal egg in the 904. It pains me to no end that the best player in the entire nation has to limited to spectating?

Monte played a lot of zone D because we don't have a QB with the accuracy or timing to beat that system. If AJ has to run 5 yards back up the field to catch the ball, he is no longer in the dead spots between zones. Our running game has been pretty bad but as long as defenses don't have to respect our passing game, the running game is going to stay unimpressive. And vice versa. But that brings me to the point where I completely agree with Quinton: losing was a team effort. But hey, at least there can't be a bunch of finger-pointing in the locker room.

It was bad, so bad, I quit caring mid 3rd quarter. That part made my Saturday much better.

the fact that Cox isnt a legit div.1 qb sure Doesn't help the running game.

anyone else see a scary resemblance to the last couple seasons in Athens and about 02-05 in Tallahassee? Are we headed down the same path? Do we have the same type of leader?

we're gonna stick with what gives us the best chance to win... regardless of whether or not we win.

No other place to post this: I know I have not saw much of Logan Gray, but is he "our guy" next year? Where do Aaron Murray and Zack Mettenberger fall? Can they start next year? Who's better among the two? I think Murray is supposed to be mobile. Anybody know anything?

I was at the route in Knoxville and doubt that Gray will be the answer at QB in 2010. When they put him in the game, he had a "deer in the headlights" look on his face. He looked extremely uncomfortable audiblizing at the line and just didn't look comfortable in the pocket. Yes, I realize our line wasn't blocking worth a damn and he was doing "mop up duty", but common sense says if we thought Gray had even a remote chance of being "the man" next year, he would've seen a lot more playing time (not returning punts) by now. Hopefully, Murray can recover from the time he lost due to tendinites (sp) and see some meaningful playing time later this year.

After the humiliating defeat the Georgia Bulldogs took at the hands of the Tennessee Volunteers it is not only the bloggers and fans that are turning on Willie Martinez, but the media is now also calling for his job. Here is an interesting article I read today:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/269939-by-the-numbers-is-willie-martinezs-job-safe-at-georgia

They stated the same stats that I put up a few weeks ago. They did state an interesting fact though that the winner of the SEC Championship game over the past years has been ranked constantly either #1 or #2 in total defense in the SEC.

I agree with johnny blaze. can we please fire quinton from this blog? Just like the dawgs have gone down hill on the field, this blog has gone down hill as well.. I like PWD, but is he too nice of a guy to fire a buddy who is underachieving? If so it will eventually cost him this blog..

This fire Quinton stuff is a bunch of bs-grade-school drama. I want more Quinton.

Please dawgs, pick up this entire fanbase with a miracle win against Florida. Polish off vandy and head into the bye week and if you care so much about your coaches getting thrown under the bus (as joe cox stated) then at least give them that one magical victory as they head out the door. Apparently Florida's biggest weakness this season are the WRs, so please don't make their receivers look like All Americans.

Considering how bad UT is, their beatdown of UGA could only be duplicated by UT this season against Western Kentucky. We were WKU, Ohio University, Memphis, Citadel, or Duke on Saturday. UT is losing at least 3 more games this season.

UGA has too much talent to ever be in this position.

Where was Orson Charles last game? I dont think I saw him at all and he seems to be good for atleast drawing deep coverage away from AJ

You guys are wrong about Quinton. He's very talented.

In fact, I'm promoting Quinton to Co-Blogger. Like Richt did with John Jancek.

PWD, in this analogy that makes you Martinez, right?

BTW, Quinton is by far the best country club sport blogger in the BullDawg Nation.

You guys should really consider moving over to the ACC...it would be best for everybody...I mean..you cant win the SEC....and right now.....frankly...your just plain embarrassing for the conference..
DO you know what kind of beat down your in for Oct 31st??

GO GATORS!!

Boogers,

i think everyone in the Bulldog Nation knows what kind of beatdown we are in for on Oct 31st. A severe one, with no hint of mercy that will leave us hating you more than we ever thought we could.

Fire Willie and Fire Quinton!! Thanks for the most obvious post ever! Great job buddy!

If we do not turn the ball over we should expect the same beat down the gators gave Tenn. Fla's offense is nowhere as good as it was last year. Their defense is winning their games this year. It’s not that they are that good, we are just that bad. They scored 13 points against LSU and 7 of that should have been nullified.

The o line gave JC no time to throw, opened zero holes for the backs no one even notices? I would take CNC back in a second.Your entire offense can't be throw it up for grabs to AJ.CMB&CSS needs to take a huge share of the blame.Their 3& outs , turnovers are killing an already bad defense.

Pay them no mind Quinton. They are still pissed at you for spoiling their pity party.
