The NFL flagged a player on Sunday for excessive celebration. His crime. Thanking God.
It should be a taunting rule. Not a celebration rule. That's true for the NFL and the college game.

PWD. I would add a link to last years BYU/Washington game where washingtons qb got a flag for accidentally tossing the ball in the air and it cost them the game.
on a positive note....atleast we got a couple of sacks last saturday.....havent seen that in awhile
The rule needs to be changed, here is the clip from last year in the washington/byu game. Look at the time on the clock, 3 seconds left in the game. You think the kid was just excited and not taunting anyone. Abolish it!!!

Were it left up to me, after every score the NFL would allow fully choreographed dance routines while gas-powered fans blew powdered cocaine on to the masses like a scene from Studio 54 and cheerleaders handed out body shots of top grade tequila.
I just don't want to see it in college. In college, the player should hand the ball back to the official and calmly head toward his own bench.
This is absolutely enough! Stop with the silliness of the flag crap. Time to move flippin' on! We lost! The refs said they screwed us! Not the first time, and I am certain that it will not be the last time! The problem here is that no wants to look ahead because we do not like what we see: A crappy football team with zero direction, less than zero identity, and a questionable coaching staff. Guess what? Complaining about last week's call will not change any of our current problems!

Anon 5:19 and 5:52...I guess my question to you is this: How many times are you willing to get screwed before you stand up and do something about it? This isn't about Georgia alone....poor officiating dictating / altering the outcome of games has become a CHRONIC problem, particularly in the SEC. Is there any point at which enough will be enough for you? Because, be assured, rolling over like a prison bitch time and again won't make it stop. At some point, there has to be enough fan outrage for the league to take action. Georgia just had a huge win over a Top 5 team ripped away from it by total and complete incompetence. Many of us invest a lot time, energy and, yes, money into this program. Demanding the SEC to put at least one professional, full-time official on the field to police the other weekend hobbyists in stripes is hardly too much to ask. But you'll have to fight for it...the SEC is obviously quite content to let these imbeciles continue making these mistakes so long as guys like you are willing to tolerate it, smile and move right along.

1) There is no rule against praying, but I think the NFL is specific in the going to the knee aspect. This reminds me of idiots who think prayer in school is outlawed.
2) The UW QB did not accidently toss the ball in the air. He threw it. The rule is pretty clear in that after the ball is dead it must either be placed in the area of the call or given to the official. To me, that was more clear cut. However, the ensuing PAT was still only 15 yds longer than a normal PAT--the kick was blocked.
Anon 7:37...I think that you should apply the same standards to our coaching staff. The Dawgs did not lose to LSU due to that flag on AJ. They lost due to incredibly crappy play for 3 quarters. We continue to field poor special teams. Our DC and OC have looked overmatched the last 2 seasons. The talent is simply not equalling wins. At what point are YOU going to hold our coaching staff, Richt included, to the same standards you mentioned above? You stated, "Is there any point at which enough will be enough for you? Before you start pointing fingers towards an outside source (the officals), you need to look at the problems at home! You are not the only Dawg fan frustrated with what happened Saturday. However, you need to understand that it was the play on the field that cost the Dawgs a W, not a flag on the field!
The rule needs to be abolished. What the Washington qb did is not a flag.
Anon 2:24...you'll recall that the play we saw on Saturday from the Dawgs merited Georgia a win over LSU until the officials stepped in. While you make some solid points - I agree with many of them, in fact - the point remains that Georgia won this game until it was stolen by a call that was completely inexusable. And it happens regularly around the league. So long as we don't let voices be heard, the league will do NOTHING to improve the situation. The fact Al Ford was PROMOTED after his call against Tech should tell you all you need to know about the current level of accountability when it comes to SEC officiating. How often must we be told that SEC football is a business until we demand it be run as one.
I agree with the majority. Absolutely ridiculous some of the flags being thrown on excessive celebration. Let the boys have fun out there! Will it actually get to the point where there will be NO celebrating allowed? Sadly, I think that's the route football is headed.
