Is the ACC Championship even a real thing?

Exiting Bobby Dodd Stadium at Mark Richt Field, I couldn't help but wonder if the ACC Championship is even real. It's beginning to feel like a marketing ploy on par with New Coke, Amway or Suffrage*.

Seriously, if no one goes to the game and no one watches on TV doesn't that put the entire tree falling in the woods theory to the test? Have you ever seen the ACC Championship fooball trophy? Have you ever met anyone who has attended the event?

Me either.

Being King of the Dipshits means you're still a dipshit. If there were ever a less purposeful gathering of overhyped fail than you'll find in Tampa this coming weekend, I can't name it.

*I kid.

From a site uninterested in the rivalry between the two schools, you sure do enjoy poking Tech fans in the eye.

Will, for a tech fan, you sure do visit a georgia football blog alot...

Will - maybe you're confused. I'm sure that's Bebe's fingers poking you in the eye - he certainly wasn't using them last night in the 4th quarter...

I dont know about Paul, or Quinton, or Dawgnoxious, but if there's one thing that never gets old, and that we can count on as UGA fans 7 out of every 10 years (and 8 out of the last 10, by the way), it's kicking Tech's ass. This is starting to feel like Pepper Rodgers: The Sequel. I hope Paul's contract is clear on all his perks, or else he'll have to sue Tech's cheap ass athletic department in 4 or 5 years to get paid when they fire him, just like the original Master of the Unstoppable Option Attack did.

Was Paul Johnson channeling Reggie BaLLLL on those last 4 offensive plays? My breath was taken away by his delicate genius as a playcaller. Clearly, it's Paul's world, and we are fortunate he's letting us breath his air.

Enjoy the World's Smallest Cocktail Party next week, nerds. I hope the ACC Home Office bought lots of tarps.

Will,

Dawgnoxious is the one that doesn't want to play them anymore. I like beating them.

But he's right. They should have to play us 2 for 1 because they aren't our peer.

And why am I rubbing it in? Because they are reading this and their tears make a good mixer.

I think you can spell championship without it as well.

You Tech fans are honestly whining about class? The same bunch of gibbering assholes that have crowed all year about their one win this decade? The same bunch that thinks a mascot dying is funny? Take this to heart, shittasters: stick it up your asses and choke on it. You insecure crybabies want to play this game, wear a cup.

I owe PWD a big apology. I didn't realize that dawgnoxious wrote the...well, dawgnoxious column about how only "old" people think it's a rivalry. You can turn that right around and say that only young and stooopid people don't understand the significance of the game. At any rate I'm a big fan of this blog and apologize for crediting Paul W on the vent with the heresy committed here.

Yawn. You guys won for the first time in 8 attempts against CMR last yr, against a woeful defense w/ horrible discipline and you acted like you were the 2nd coming. Why not observe Georgia vs UF for lessons in humility. When we beat a weak UF in '04, I recall being relieved that we finally played well. You didn't see Dawgs screaming from the rooftops that we were gonna own the gators. When we won in '07 it was shock at being a bully and that CMR had an alter ego. It was never that UF sucked and we owned em.

-You can't spell DragonCon Convention w/out GT.
-You can't spell Forty year old virgin w/out GT.

-You can't spell Mugged on North Avenue w/out GT

I've got a bunch of friends that went to Tech. They've touched boobs, funnelled beer and been in fist fights. That put them in a very small minority on that campus.

You probably called them "rednecks" and made fun of many of them for majoring in Management. These guys are smarter than you b/c they don't chirp about the football team b/c they know its 2nd rate in this state. Take note from the guys who are Georgia born and bred and attend your school for more lessons on how to be a fan without being such a schmuck.

I really like this tidbit from Hale's blog:

-- Rennie was at the Falcons game today. He said he got plenty of dirty looks from Tech fans who recognized him, which was by far the highlight of his afternoon.

Rob,

I don't totally disagree with most of Dawgnoxious' points. It is MUCH more a rivalry to them than us. And we should play them 2 for 1.

But I think I enjoy beating them more than he does.

First decade since the 1930s that Tech has beaten Georgia only twice.

And we only played six times in the 1930s.

8-2, nerds. 8-2.

Dawgnoxious said...

Rob, if you worked with Georgia Southern fans, a loss to Georgia Southern be very embarrassing to you. Working with Tech fans does not turn this into a rivalry. It turns your workplace into an irritant if you lose.

Old people think Tech is a rival because they remember when Tech was a peer. If you were born after Watergate, you have no such memory. That said, we beat a top ten team last night. I enjoyed being one of the very few people at the game last night. It's a pity more UGA fans couldn't squeeze into their little diorama.

It's probably moot at this point, but does anyone have a breakdown on CWM's defense this year. The numbers I'd like to see specifically are:

How many points did other teams score off of turnovers?

YPG allowed this year vs. past years

I feel like our defense was down last year, and put in bad positions by our offense this year. Again, probably all moot, judging by the look on Willie's face at the end of the game.

I think he might deserve another shot. Who could do better?

Newshon?

Ealey's first 112 carries (as a true freshman): 639 yards (5.7 avg.), 3 TDs, 44 long.

Moreno's first 112 carries (as a redshirt freshman): 510 (4.6 avg.), 3 TDs, 35 long.

Good stuff, Texas. Good stuff. The kind of stuff that breeds post-season optimism.

We're all having a good laugh at Tech and the ACC's expense. The ACC literally can't win for losing.

This win over Tech was a great win at a bad time, and I'll take it.

While I like this blog, I strongly disagree with these suggestions to discontinue Tech game. Don't understand it, not even a little bit. You don't demean Tech by refusing to play them, or by insulting them with the Penn State-ish 2 for 1 deal; you demean Tech by BEATING them. Winners don't walk away.

Why has nobody posted a link to this video and commented on it?

What was I thankful for this Thanksgiving? Everything that Tech did and didn't do that led to us getting our swagger back.

By us, I mean the bloggers and commenters around here as much as our team on the field. Positive attitudes and optimism in general had become about as rare in these parts as a hot blonde at Bobby Dodd.

After the UK loss I was about as down on this team as I had ever been since the Goff years. Now, I'm looking forward to kicking butt in our bowl, sending Cox and our other upperclassmen out on a winning note, say thanks for being DGD's, and get on with the business of anxiously looking forward to next year.

Thanks, Nerds!

Yes. They sit in their shit filled diapers staring out the nursing home windows and remember.

IrishDawg pretty much summed it up.

The Tech fanbase is the biggest bunch of crybaby trash talkers on the planet. Acting like their 3 point victory last year was a 40 point blowout and talking smack incessantly for 364 days.

Joking about the death of UGA, making all kinds of ridiculous comments on the AJC blogs.

You dumbass Nerds are getting everything you deserve.

HA! That shirt is pretty clever. Really though, it all works itself out in the wash.

Hey guys, I'm much older than you so I remember when Tech left the SEC - why??? Because we were too tough and their boys were getting hurt and mainly because they couldn't win!!

I love the tshirt - might even spring for one for Christmas!!
