Normally when you go on the road you hate getting a night game because the home team's fans (who greatly outnumber the visiting team's fans) will be that much louder than they would earlier.
Fortunately, we're playing this game at Georgia Tech, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Richt did have a hand in losing that game. No reason Shockley should have been to throw the pick 6. We were in a rhythm early. Should of stuck with Greene in my opinion.
Paul, I know that. I generally don't ever worry about us losing because of the other team's home field advantage.
My comment was more to make fun of the pathetic nature of their fanbase and the fact that we're nearly as loud as they are when we play at the Joke by Coke in odd years. It'll be interesting to see how the fanbase split goes this year, though, since they refused to sell Georgia tickets in any other method than through season tickets. Most of the tickets to our game went as extras to their season ticket holders. Will they be able to scrounge up enough GT fans to fill those seats (doubtful that enough exist, iFDho) or will they just make a nice profit off of our fans who have to buy them on the secondary market rather than buying them from Tech (along with two other throw-away games that aren't worth the paper they're printed on).
Y'all are in for a rude surprise if you think uga will have a typical fan split.
GT drew 51,415 for Wake (yes I know that's not a whole lot but still...). I guarantee you there weren't more than 1,000 wake fans there. And that attendance was for 4-7 Wake.
Ever since Johnson came there has been a gradual groundswell of support. Last year for the LSU game, the dome was sold out and at least 75-80% of that were (quiet) Tech fans.
Admittedly, there were empty seats for Clemson and VT. But not that many (<3,000 for Clemson, <600 for VT). Neither team brought nearly the amount of fans they usually do, likely because of the economy. VPI didn't even bring a band and they barely sold more tickets than that guest section in the southwest corner in the stands.
Anyways, the stadium has been at 92-95% capacity all season long for lesser games. This is a game GT fans are dying to go to. I wouldn't be surprised if the stadium is 95% full of GT fans in two weeks.
Maybe another reason Virginia Tech only brought 600 fans is because they are coming from Virginia. Maybe part of the reason so many Georgia fans go to the Tech game is so many Georgia fans are from Atlanta. Seems obvious to me, but what do I know?
Since VT filled the visitor section 2 years ago on a Thursday night, I'd guess that coming from Virginia had nothing to do with it. Unless, of course, you are factoring in the economy PLUS coming to Virginia.
+1, Dawgnoxious. The callow nerd's math skills are the same type which allowed them to overestimate the capacity of the Joke By Coke by several thousand seats for several years. Or to add up the averages for Joe "Webster" Hamilton's grades and conclude he was eligible for his last three years.
Will Tech count our players and coaches when they announce the attendance?
Another reason you'll see so much Red at Grant Field is that 12% of Tech's student body is co-opping in Mumbai this semester along w/ 20% of the alumni.
Plus, "Lightening Strikes" is coming on the Sci/Fi Network that nite and no Techie wants to miss that.
Adam's - cmon man, you gotta do better than that. At least tithead was funny. None of your insults are even borderline original.
Hell, you aren't even right. None of Tech's student body or alumni is co-opping anywhere in India because they are already from there. If anything, they are just returning home.
Oh, come on Dawgnoxious. If Yech fans had tits for heads, they'd never leave their dorm rooms, much less log on here to tell us how many of them are TOTALLY going to show up this year. I mean, a REAL boobie, in touching distance!!!
First of all, I think its hilarious that Tech fans have to rationalize why they can't sell 55,000 tickets on a consistent basis. I don't care if it's a bad economy or not, there is no way that there should be empty seats when you are playing the #4 team in the country with a good chance to win.
Second, can we please for the love of God not overlook Kentucky? I'm just as excited about Tech as anyone else, but Kentucky is an absolute must win. I hope the team hasn't been thinking about Tech...
Kentucky is a "should win" but if I were given some sort of Faustian deal by Ol' Scratch himself, saying "UGA can only win one of these next two" I'd pick ruining the Trade School's season each time.

night games suck.
Now that we've beaten a rival, let's go back to playing terrible defense so that Mark will be forced to remove Willie.
Mark wants Willie to stay; we need him to leave so we can get a DC who knows how to defend against boot legs, etc.
KY_Dawg, I beg to differ. With a night game you get to watch the same game but get even more time to tailgate. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

Herbstreit/Musberger calling this game?
So we're straight up skipping Kentucky this year, are we? I mean, not like they almost beat us last year with Stafford and Moreno. Yeah.
so f-ing tired,
i agree BUT i still want the dawgs to win.
51-50 dawgs would suit me perfectly.
Squash the Bugs!
Bring on the triple option you nerds!
PWD-
Richt has only lost 1 regular season NIGHT GAME in his career away from athens..
oh btw, looks like espn reads my comments closely bc they just locked down jon gruden for awhile..
I think something is missing from your reply PWD. "Night game" away from Athens?
we are 4-0 in night games.....just saying
Thanks JG -- I fixed it.
Here you go.
FisheriesDawg,
Richt has only lost 1 regular season NIGHT game in his career away from Athens.
2002 Florida
Not that it matters, but we've got that going for us.
PWD
so effing tired needs to get some sleep.
Richt didn't lose that game, Terrence Edwards did.

We also lost a night game in 2004 @ Auburn.
04 AU was at 3:30.

Georgia ain't Mississippi State, and Tech sure ain't Vandy, it ought to be a good game.
GO JACKETS!!!!!!

SEE YOU THERE. GO JACKETS!!!!
GT = a bunch of virgin-nerds.
"I wouldn't be surprised if the stadium is 95% full of GT fans in two weeks."
Anon @ 5:19 -- I would be positively shocked, considering your stadium charitably holds 55,000 and UGA gets at least 7,500 (14%) of them.
I thought you f*cktards were supposed to be able to do math. Tithead.
The reason I read blog comments is to learn words like tithead. Awesome.
Anon 2:48 PM, yea I saw the mess you and the other clowns left on the North Campus again. Keep it up and tailgating is going to be banned on campus.

oldie but a goodie
The Tech students that aren't in Guantanamo Bay are too afraid to leave their dorm for fear of being mugged ... again.
tithead is my new favorite word
