Per Richt... Mett is gone. Update...Radi at UGASports.com says it was related to the Valdosta / Remerton issue.
Given how good Mettenberger looked throughout Spring, he had to have dropped a real turd in Coach Richt's punch bowl to get the boot. I would imagine the full details will come out in a day or two.

Is he free to go to any D-I school?
From what I've read, it comes from the same incident that got him arrested in the first place. My guess is that Mettenberger was not entirely honest with Richt when he gave his side of the story before, and now Richt is finding out about it.
What a shame. Mett has the raw skills to be a great QB. Maybe he needs to go to Georgia Military College to get himself straightened out.
tardy to the party. thanks for the insight.
Wow, PWD. There has to be something more to the arrest. I am just not seeing how he deserved dismissal otherwise. At least now we know it's Murray's show for sure.
Strange decision, at least if Felton's statement that there was not a new incident or arrest involved in the dismissal. Underage drinking and possession of Fake ID, while still relatively serious, seems like a rather innocuous offense to be kicked off the team for. Wonder what facts we don't know yet.
Best of luck to Mett in the future.
I heard about the circumstances around this earlier this week and I hope for the kid's sake that he can beat them in court.
Not good at all, especially considering his family's ties to the football department
Sadly, this means that we're an injury away from Logan Grey as our starting QB.
I agree with ColumbiaDawg; I think there had to be something else that Mett wasn't honest about with Richt and then coach found out about it.
Richt seems to be fair about punishment and second-chances. If Mett didn't own up to something, I could see Richt thinking if you are man enough to admit a problem, you aren't man enough to correct the problem.
Of course, that is all speculation on my part.
Who knows? One of these days he may be quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I heard that they gave him strict rules that he was not allowed downtown and he was seen out and someone told the coaches.
Which QB has the inside track now? Aaron Murray?
It's interesting that we aren't hearing the same sort of love and comments about treating Mett like family from the coaching staff we heard when Robinson was dismissed.
It makes me inclined to agree with the folks who suspect Mett was dishonest with the coaching staff about something. You just don't get kicked off the team at UGA for a first offense short of a felony.
One source on what really happened--it's not verified, but it sounds plausible enough.

Rumor I heard out of Valdosta was a potential sexual assualt looming from the same night. After watching the Roethlisberger debacle I would understand why Richt canned him if that's the case. I'm sure he will surface at an FCS/I-AA school shortly unless FSU or Miami come calling.
I talked to a certain UGA football player who is around Mett regularly and he told me that Richt told him before the Spring game that he was going to kick him off the team but wanted him to play so other teams would have some film on him
PWD- since you are kinda slipping on keeping this blog up to date (i think you probably sign on once a week to check the comments) can you at least take off comment moderation? give us a chance to continue the dawg talk with or without you present..
in case you didnt notice we now have a starting qb.. pretty important news..
RUMOR only, but 680 is saying that Logan Gray will announce he is transferring by the end of the week. Again, RUMOR only at this time.
